This position is in the Food & Drug Protection Division. The Food & Drug Protection Division has five functioning sections, including the Food Section, the Dairy Section, the Feed Section, the Drug Section, and the Administrative Services Section. In addition, analytical support is provided to the Food & Feed Sections by the Food & Drug Protection Division’s six laboratory branches, i.e. Feed Laboratory, Fertilizer Laboratory, Food Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Residue Laboratory, and Pesticide Formulations Laboratory. The Division protects the health, welfare, and economic interests of consumers of foods, drugs, livestock feeds, fertilizers, and medical devices by ensuring, thorough inspections and analysis, that these products are wholesome and properly labeled.

This position provides administrative support to the Food Program and other programs in the Division as needed. This support includes managing the day-to-day functions necessary to administer the programs of the Food Section. This support also includes arranging travel for staff, handling vehicle administration including entering information into a vehicle database, and p-card transactions. This position provides backup duties for processing payments of license applications, maintaining a licensing database to include receiving and processing new applications and renewal license forms. This position also provides administrative support to other sections during heavy workloads or employee absences and provides rotational backup for the receptionist at least twice per month or more, as needed.

Recruitment Range: $39,244 - $49,000

  • General knowledge of office practices, techniques, and technology sufficient to perform at this level of work
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other members of organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
