We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for Industrial Quality Technician position under Services department. The position will report the Industrial Quality Manager and is based in Midrand.

Job Purpose

To perform quality inspections and ensure product compliance with customer and internal specifications, preventing bottlenecks and minimising downtime. Deploy industrial quality standards across maintenance processes and support the maintenance activities to meet quality requirements and targets. Identify defects, isolate non-conforming products, initiate corrective and preventive actions and qualify cross functional teams on Quality Methodologies.

Quality Governance

  • Attendance of Quality Governance within the project
  • Consistency with Quality animation (Top 5 defects animation). Analyze and find the root cause of repetitive non compliancy / reworks – QRQC methods
  • Update and archiving of Quality records on SharePoint
  • Train Cross Functional Team on Quality Tools/Methodologies
  • Attendance and participation in the Special Process Audits and Maturity Assessments
  • Attend the daily meeting in the workshop and animate Quality topics
  • Updates of various performance reports

Quality Systems

  • Maturity of APSYS and other Quality requirements (i.e. QMS, Special process, Calibration of Tooling)
  • Maintenance Induced Errors (MIE)
  • Quality Management System
  • Supplier Quality Management
  • Management of GSI, PST, SES
  • Competency Maturity

Operational Quality Management

  • Conduct monthly workstation audits to ensure production adheres to work instructions, validate measuring tools, check the calibration status and confirm compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • PFMEA and Quality Control Planning – Setting up and maintenance of quality controls for all activities. Ensure respect of the Control Plan and Self Inspection at each workstation.
  • Definition of Quality Control Plan based on Customer Acceptance Criteria, Criticality Matrix, FMEA, CTQ, FMR/SMR/FAI, REX and Kx
  • Quality Inspections – Incoming Material, in-process and final product (number of reworks, missing parts, NCR, derogations, modifications, FAC)
  • Self-Inspection deployment and effectiveness
  • Quality Inspection of final product before the release for delivery
  • Joint Inspections with customer and sharing of EMD reports
  • Workstation Audits – Plan and conduct Workstation Audit per audit plan based on criticality
  • Non-conformity and MIE treatment – Create Non-Conformity Report in the GSI system and ensure the 8D Problem Solving Tool is defined up to CONQ
  • Customer Interface Activities – Joint Inspections, Customer Engagements
  • Return of experience at the workstation – to highlight areas of improvement & recommend possible corrective action.
  • Create inspection reports for all inspected products and share inspection/audit outcome - closure and validation on reworks done
  • Innovation and continuous improvement projects focusing on low performing Quality KPIs and CONQ reduction

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Quality Management or equivalent.
  • 3 Years’ experience in quality inspections, use of measuring instruments and interpretation of engineering drawings.

Special Requirements

  • May be required to travel and work in other service depots covering industrial and supplier quality support
  • Incumbent may be required to work outside normal working hours
