Business Development Lead – Government & Defense Logistics

The Opportunity

Maersk is looking for a commercially driven and strategically minded Business Development Lead to help accelerate our growth within the Government & Defence sector across Europe.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of business development, customer engagement, solution design and strategic market development. You will collaborate with customers, partners and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, shape tailored logistics solutions and support the successful pursuit of complex Government & Defence business.

Key Responsibilities

Growth & Business Development

• Pursue new business opportunities across Government & Defence.
• Develop and execute growth strategies across key European markets.
• Support commercial engagements as the expert, from opportunity identification through contract award.

Solution Development & Bids

• Work with Sales, Solution Design, Operations, Compliance, Legal and Finance to develop tailored solutions.
• Lead complex bids and tenders, ensuring competitive and compliant value propositions.
• Understand Maersk offering and translate customer requirements into scalable and value-driven logistics solutions.

Strategic Market Leadership

• Monitor market, industry and geopolitical developments to identify new opportunities.
• Provide customer and market insights to influence product and capability development.
• Represent Maersk at industry events, customer forums and relevant associations.
• Support the continued development of Maersk’s Government & Defence value proposition.

Who We Are Looking For

A Government & Defence logistics professional who combines strong industry knowledge with the ability to support commercial opportunities, develop customer-centric solutions and lead complex bids and tenders.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of experience within Government & Defence logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain management, bids and tenders, business development or related commercial functions
• Proven track record of developing and winning complex business opportunities.
• Experience within Government & Defence, Defence Logistics, Security or related sectors is highly desired.
• Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain management and integrated transportation.
• Experience managing complex stakeholder environments and senior customer relationships.
