At Formlabs, we’re building the tools that make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life, from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. We’re a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things. If you’re ready to shape the future of fabrication, come build it with us.
Role Description
As a Production Equipment Technician, your time will be split between rapid-response hardware troubleshooting and general factory operations. You will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures on 3D printers, executing preventative maintenance protocols, and performing component-level swaps to keep production moving. Additionally, you will own the organization of the warehouse and factory floor, ensuring that consumables are stocked, inventory is accurate, and the environment meets strict operational and cleanliness standards. This is a full-time, hourly role for a proactive problem-solver who enjoys working with their hands and optimizing physical spaces.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical issues on 3D printers and support equipment.
- Rapidly respond to hardware faults on the production floor to minimize downtime and maintain throughput targets.
- Execute routine preventative maintenance (PM) schedules and calibration cycles.
- Manage hardware inventory, track spare parts usage, and restock production stations with critical consumables.
- Maintain a highly organized, clean, and safe factory environment using workplace organization standards.
- Document maintenance logs, repair actions, and component failures accurately.
- Collaborate with production operators and communicate equipment status clearly to operations leadership.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude (e.g., experience repairing electronics, robotics, automotive components, appliances, or 3D printers).
- Proficiency using basic hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and navigating digital diagnostic interfaces.
- Ability to read technical documentation, assembly guides, or schematics.
- A rapid-response mindset—capable of prioritizing urgent equipment failures under tight timelines.
- Excellent spatial organization and inventory control skills.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, technical support, hardware testing, or warehouse environment preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work in a high-tech manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise, temperature changes, and particulate materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, and navigate the production floor for extended periods.
- Lift and move hardware or inventory weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.

- Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits through UMR (United Healthcare Provider Network)
- Vision and Dental included
- FSA/HSA options
- PTO accrual starting on day one—up to 3 weeks (120 hours) per year
- Commuter Benefits
