Road Service Mechanic

🔧Diesel Mechanic

Location: Royal Waste- Queens NY Schedule: Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 PM, Saturdays until 1pm as needed.

Rate: $30–$40/hr, depending on experience

Employment Type: Full-time

Royal Waste Services is looking to add a Road Service Mechanic to our growing maintenance team. We are committed to hiring mechanics who prioritize driver safety, fleet reliability, and the quality of service we provide to our community. As a mechanic with us the minimum responsibilities are:

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, repairs, safety checks, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Utilize vehicle computer systems to interpret failure codes and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control Modules.
• Respond to road calls and perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
• Accurately complete required documentation using fleet maintenance software.
• Conduct post‑service test drives to ensure repairs meet safety and performance standards.
• Collaborate with team members on complex repairs as needed.
• Maintain professional and courteous communication with drivers.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

What We Need From You

• Proficiency in diesel diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repair.
• Basic tool set required.
• Must Have a valid Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Hydraulic experience is a plus.
• Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems
• Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs
