Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer responsible for new product development to join our R&D Engineering team. This role is responsible for leading the development of innovative new products from concept creation through production launch, with a strong focus on mechanical/structural design, engineering analysis, and product realization.

This is a key technical leadership role for an engineer with deep expertise in mechanical and structural design; strength and theoretical analysis, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA, and applicable power tool standards. Experience in developing power tools for cable cutting, wire stripping or crimping, is highly desirable. The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong English communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and global environments, and strong innovation capabilities to drive product design optimization and technical breakthroughs based on customer needs, technology trends, and application scenarios. Extensive experience in the development of handheld power tools for hydraulic, cable cutting, wire stripping, crimping, and pipe processing applications is required.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Management

  • Lead new product development from concept generation through design, validation, and production launch.
  • Identify technical risks proactively, lead problem-solving efforts, and drive effective corrective actions throughout the development cycle.
  • Lead design reviews, prototype builds, and engineering validation activities.

Mechanical Design & Engineering

  • Own the mechanical and structural design of products and subsystems.
  • Perform and guide strength calculations, structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and theoretical engineering evaluations to ensure robust and reliable designs.
  • Lead engineering team to complete concepts, 3D models, detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Transfer product requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions that balance performance, cost, quality, and user needs.

Manufacturing & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability, production efficiency, and cost competitiveness.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Product Management, and Test Engineering teams to support successful product launch.
  • Support value engineering and cost optimization initiatives and contribute to platform-based product development.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the R&D organization.
  • Stay current on industry trends, materials, manufacturing technologies, and competitive products relevant to power tools and cable-processing applications.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in new product development related to hydraulic tools and pipe wrenches.
  • Proven experience in mechanical/structural design, engineering analysis, and product commercialization.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects against quality, schedule, and profitability targets.

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundation in structural design, mechanical design, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Solid experience in strength analysis, mechanical calculations, and theoretical analysis.
  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD tools and engineering drawing standards.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, stamping, casting, and assembly.
  • Good understanding of DFM/DFA and production feasibility considerations.
  • Familiarity with relevant power tool standards, product safety requirements, and industry compliance expectations.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across functions.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in the development of products or applications involving hydraulic tools, cable cutting, wire stripping, crimping, and pipe processing tools is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience working effectively with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities across cross-functional and international environments.
