You'll lead the end-to-end production of high-quality operational risk reporting and data insights, act as the center of excellence for reporting standards and best practices, and drive process enhancement initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team's reporting capabilities. As a skilled communicator, you'll play a critical role in translating complex data and risk insights into compelling narratives and executive-level materials for senior leaders and governance committees across the bank..

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you'll succeed

  • Reporting Excellence & Execution - Lead the end-to-end execution and production of operational risk reporting for the Governance & Controls team, ensuring all outputs are accurate, professionally formatted, and delivered on time. Maintain an inventory of annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly reporting obligations across all SBUs and lines of business (LOBs). Act as the center of excellence for reporting standards and best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across all reporting outputs. Lead the delivery of final reports to senior management and governance committees including the Operational Risk, Resilience and Controls Committee (ORRCC), Global Risk Committee (GRC), and Risk Management Committee (RMC).
  • Process Enhancement & Automation Leadership - Lead the identification and implementation of process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team's reporting capabilities. Direct the transition of static reports into dynamic Power BI dashboards, working closely with the Senior Consultant to define requirements and oversee execution. Develop and maintain workback schedules, coordinating reviews and sign-offs across partners to ensure all reporting deadlines are met. Continuously assess existing reports to ensure they meet business needs and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Data Visualization & Insights - Oversee the design and implementation of Power BI dashboards and decision-enablement tools that transform complex data into clear, actionable visual insights aligned to business objectives. Leverage charts, graphs, PowerPoint, and other visual tools to effectively convey information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Communication & Senior Stakeholder Engagement - Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate complex data, analysis, and risk insights to audiences with different disciplinary backgrounds. Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and compelling reporting materials and presentations, including PowerPoint decks, for senior executives and governance committees across the bank. Anticipate likely questions from senior leadership and address them proactively in materials. Act as a key point of contact for information requests from SBU leaders, senior executives, internal audit, and second line of defense partners, responding with accuracy and urgency.
  • Risk Insights & Analysis - Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to help SBUs maintain a robust control environment. Identify and escalate trends and systemic issues related to the SBU control environment, including deficiencies, losses, and audit findings. Lead the annual refresh of Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) metrics and limits, and maintain Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for each SBU.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in controls reporting, operational risk, governance, or a related field within financial services, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience. Experience independently preparing and presenting materials for senior executives and governance committees is required. It's an asset if you have experience supporting PBB, NACB, GWM, or CM lines of business.
  • You're an effective communicator. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate ideas, analysis, and insights to audiences with different disciplinary backgrounds. You independently produce clear, concise, and compelling materials including PowerPoint presentations for senior executives and governance committees.
  • Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by sharing your expertise and driving results across teams without formal authority. You are skilled at building consensus and influencing outcomes at all levels.
  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way that drives decisions. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to high data quality standards.
