FP&A Advisory - Managing Director

CFGI, founded in 2000, is a dynamic and fast-growing financial consulting firm, serving as the trusted partner to CFOs and their organizations. We help clients tackle complex challenges across accounting, corporate finance, M&A, IPO readiness, and digital transformation. We blend deep technical expertise with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to help the world’s leading companies move forward with confidence.

We are seeking a strategic, commercial, and execution-focused Managing Director to support the continued growth of our FP&A Advisory team. The Managing Director is a senior leader responsible for building executive client relationships, originating and expanding business, overseeing complex client engagements, developing our people, and helping shape CFGI's FP&A Advisory go-to-market strategy and capabilities.

What you might expect:

  • Drive the growth of CFGI's FP&A Advisory practice by developing go-to-market strategies, cultivating executive relationships, originating new opportunities, and expanding existing client accounts.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, CEOs, Boards, Private Equity sponsors, and other senior executives on complex FP&A, strategic finance, performance management, and finance-transformation matters.
  • Diagnose clients' financial, operational, organizational, technology, and data challenges and develop practical solutions aligned with broader business strategy.
  • Lead major business-transformation initiatives that align finance capabilities with a client's strategic objectives and future-state vision.
  • Advise clients on forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, scenario analysis, management reporting, business partnering, resource allocation, financial risk, and strategic decision support.
  • Oversee complex financial and transaction modeling supporting M&A, divestitures, integrations, refinancing, capital raises, restructuring, growth initiatives, and enterprise transformation.
  • Help clients design and implement modern FP&A operating models incorporating automation, EPM, ERP, advanced analytics, business intelligence, data modernization, and emerging AI capabilities.
  • Provide executive oversight across major engagements, ensuring quality delivery, strong economics, effective staffing, risk management, and exceptional client service.
  • Lead executive workshops, steering committees, strategic planning sessions, and other high-stakes stakeholder discussions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand CFGI's relationship across the broader CFO organization and coordinate cross-practice solutions where appropriate.
  • Lead and support proposal development, pursuit strategy, pricing, solution development, and other critical business-development activities.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of innovations across FP&A, digital finance, analytics, AI, automation, finance technology, and the broader CFO ecosystem.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, and Consultants while helping build a high-performing and entrepreneurial FP&A Advisory practice.
  • Contribute to CFGI's market positioning through thought leadership, solution development, external relationships, and the continued evolution of the FP&A Advisory value proposition.

What you must have:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, finance transformation, corporate finance, financial consulting, and/or related finance leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience generating new business, expanding client relationships, and developing revenue opportunities within consulting, advisory, professional services, or a comparable client-service environment.

What sets you apart:

  • Significant consulting or professional-services leadership experience, ideally complemented by corporate FP&A, strategic finance, CFO organization, or operating-company experience.
  • Extensive experience advising CFOs and executive leadership teams on complex FP&A, financial modeling, performance management, strategic planning, or finance-transformation initiatives.
  • Significant engagement leadership experience, including responsibility for major client relationships, project teams, engagement economics, delivery quality, and executive stakeholder management.
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies, leading pursuits and proposals, originating advisory engagements, and expanding strategic accounts.
  • Experience leading finance modernization involving EPM, ERP, advanced analytics, reporting, automation, data, or broader digital-finance technologies.

Nice to have:

  • Transactional experience involving M&A, divestitures, integrations, carve-outs, refinancing, capital raises, restructuring, or associated scenario modeling.
  • Experience working with Private Equity sponsors and portfolio companies, particularly in value-creation, post-close transformation, rapid-growth, or high-change environments.
  • Experience with finance platforms and technologies such as Workday Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Planful, OneStream, Cognos, Oracle Hyperion, Oracle Fusion, SAP, NetSuite, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, or similar solutions.
  • Experience applying Generative AI, advanced analytics, intelligent automation, or emerging technology to transform FP&A and finance operating models.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA, PMP, or another relevant professional credential.

Who thrives here:

  • Executive-level communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial and commercially oriented, with a passion for developing clients, people, capabilities, and new areas of business.
  • Strategic thinker who remains comfortable engaging deeply in execution when client situations require it.
  • Strong people leader with a track record of developing high-performing consulting teams.
  • Able to balance client commitments, business development, practice leadership, talent development, and internal firm priorities.
  • Passionate about exceptional client service and building a differentiated, high-impact consulting practice.
