Job Description
The Purpose:
The Data Governance Specialist will be accountable for the implementation of required standards and controls that govern the appropriate use of user access to our data assets. This includes the design of a robust process, that supports the security and integrity of our data assets, using available tools, in ensuring that inappropriate access activity can easily be detected, reported and remediated.

Main Responsibilities
- Implement required controls to ensure daily monitoring and auditing of access to our data assets that enable early detection and reporting of inappropriate access that has not met the required standards, so that corrective action can be taken.
- Implement required controls and standards that promote effective evaluation of the monitoring results and the impact of inappropriate access activity, so that useful recommendations can be presented to aid remediation.
- Build and maintain the data catalogue and business glossary, ensuring metadata, ownership, lineage, and business definitions remain accurate, documented, and discoverable.
- Prepare and maintain the monitoring database, using available tools.
- Carry out activities to collect, review, analyse and report on data to meet required standards and controls.
- Develop creative solutions and best practice in the utilisation of Experian and client data to produce relevant monitoring and evaluation insights on the use of and access to our data.
- Create triggers that can alert users on inappropriate access activity.
- Evaluate, assess and validate monitoring results to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Identify and resolve data problems, producing appropriate analysis to verify results.
- Follow policies, procedures and standards throughout the monitoring and evaluation process to ensure all requirements are fulfilled.
- Produce reports daily and monthly reports on monitoring and evaluation findings and prepare presentations based on data as required.
- Define measurable outputs and performance indicators to manage monitoring and evaluation activities around data access.
- Collaborate with line managers to ensure that they have implemented adequate controls and standards within their teams to promote appropriate access to our data assets.
