Responsibilities:
- Perform basic and advanced electrical maintenance tasks
- Install or modify circuitry.
- Measure, cut, and install wiring and conduit systems.
- Replace breakers, fuses, switches, drives and wiring as necessary.
- Test and adjust equipment as necessary to prevent issues.
- Troubleshoot or replace electrical components as needed.
- Observe OHSA, USG and NFPA 70E regulations.
- Interpret PLC ladder logic programs.
- Perform minor mechanical maintenance such as replacing drive belts, small part conveyor belting.
- Troubleshooting and repairing power transmission systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Ensure operation of machinery and electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on: drive systems, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, robotic packaging units, rolling mills, stamping presses, and production machines. Utilize diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Locate sources of problems by observing equipment devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring/testing instruments such as: various Fluke electrical meters, infrared camera.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand /power tools.
- Conform to the plant's reliability performance model (RPM), as well as, other required maintenance activities.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with plant rules/procedures and completing safety inspections to meet both OSHA regulations and USG safety standards.
- Maintain good working relationships through the use of constructive communication skills and dignity/respect.
- Troubleshooting and repairing power transmission systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Manufacturing Electrical or related skills/field are required.
- Safety and housekeeping are the first considerations in all activities. The employee must consistently demonstrate an understanding/compliance of all plant & departmental safety rules, standards, and model programs.
- Report any unsafe condition or defective equipment to your supervisor immediately. Demonstrate knowledge of when, where and how to use standard and specialized personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for the position.
- Must be able to work in adverse conditions, including but not limited to: extreme temperatures, negotiating uneven terrain, ramps, steps and ladders.
- Demonstrate ability to protect himself/herself and co-workers from potential safety hazards.
- Responsible for performing all assignments as delegated by Supervisor.
- Have ability to understand verbal and written instructions from plant supervision and efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with other workers in the areas of safety, quality, and production/maintenance and understand importance of completing assigned tasks and their relationship to other requirements.
- Must be able to pass the USG Mechanical Skills Assessment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.
- Must be willing to pursue additional training if required to do so.
- Must have ability to safely operate plant mobile equipment.
- Must be a self-starter and complete tasks with little guidance or supervision.
- Must demonstrate good safety and attendance.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
