Team Overview

The Front-End Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining TransUnion's next-generation web applications and digital experiences. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, the team partners closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, Back-End Engineers, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and Quality Engineers to deliver enterprise-grade solutions that serve millions of customers and business users. The team is focused on adopting modern engineering practices, reusable design systems, cloud-native architectures, automated testing, and continuous delivery to ensure rapid innovation and exceptional user experiences.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview

The Senior Front-End Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly scalable and performant web applications using React.js, TypeScript, and modern front-end technologies. This individual will drive architecture decisions, establish development standards, mentor engineers, and ensure applications meet the highest standards of quality, security, accessibility, and performance.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience building complex single-page applications, implementing scalable state management patterns, optimizing application performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business value through technology.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly scalable, modular front-end architectures using React.js and TypeScript.
• Develop enterprise-grade web applications utilizing modern React frameworks such as Next.js and Remix.
• Audit and optimize application performance by improving Core Web Vitals, implementing lazy loading, reducing bundle sizes, and managing efficient caching strategies.
• Create, document, and maintain reusable UI component libraries and design system components for consistency across company platforms.
• Establish clean and maintainable data flows using Redux Toolkit, NgRx, Zustand, Context API, or similar state management solutions.
• Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and microservice-based architectures.
• Implement internationalization (i18n) and Right-to-Left (RTL) language support across applications.
• Lead code reviews and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, linting, and static code analysis requirements.
• Develop and maintain automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Collaborate closely with UX/UI teams to deliver accessible, intuitive, and responsive user experiences.
• Partner with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues while ensuring platform stability and reliability.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical coaching.
• Participate in architectural discussions and technology evaluations to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

Required Experience

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting production React.js applications.
• Proven experience designing scalable front-end architectures for enterprise applications.
• Strong experience building Single Page Applications (SPAs) and server-rendered applications.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.

Required Technical Skills

• Experience: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 5+ years focused strictly on React.js production applications.
• Languages: Expert-level mastery of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and semantic, responsive CSS3 (Tailwind CSS, Styled Components, or SASS).
• Frameworks: Strong professional experience with production-ready React frameworks, specifically Next.js or Remix.
• Testing: Deep understanding of automated testing using Jest, React Testing Library, and End-to-End frameworks like Cypress or Playwright.
• Tooling: Experience configuring modern build pipelines, including Vite, Webpack, Babel, and CI/CD automation platforms.
• Version Control: Advanced knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies, and monorepo management (e.g., Turborepo or Nx).
