Team Overview

Our Search Team powers the real-time experience that helps millions of guests find what they need whether they type one word or ask a complex question. We build low-latency services, ranking pipelines and analytics that run both in our on-prem data centers and on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Your work will let data scientists ship models to production quickly and reliably, so guests always get the right answer.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer who can independently solve complex technical problems, deliver production-quality and maintainable solutions, and take end-to-end ownership of features and system reliability.

The role requires strong problem-solving and technical expertise, including root-cause analysis, system improvements, observability, fault-tolerant design, and defensive engineering practices. The engineer will also identify and apply appropriate AI opportunities within products and engineering workflows while exercising sound judgment on automation and human oversight.

The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert in Search domain, understand concepts like search engines, query understanding, ranking, typeahead.

They will collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders, clearly communicate and document technical decisions, lead solution-design discussions, provide high-quality technical feedback, and mentor team members in engineering best practices and domain knowledge.

About You

• 4 year degree or equivalent experience
• 5-7 years of software development experience
• Code using primarily Kotlin, Micronaut.
• Experience with Search Engines like SOLR and Elasticsearch
• Experience in evaluating search infrastructure requirements and design/deploy solutions for problems such as high availability, search clusters, elastic load distribution.
• Experience on streaming systems like Kafka. Experience on Kafka Streams is added advantage.
