As a Product Owner at Ontic, you will work closely with Product Management, UX Design, QA, and Engineering to ensure product requirements are clearly defined, technically feasible, and delivered with high quality. This role is primarily focused on supporting current and upcoming product releases by creating clarity from ambiguity, maintaining backlog readiness, and enabling Engineering teams to execute efficiently throughout the software development lifecycle.
You will serve as the primary Product representative supporting Engineering teams during active development and release. Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams. Success will be measured by the quality of requirements, backlog readiness, stakeholder alignment, and the team’s ability to deliver roadmap commitments predictably and on time.
What You’ll do
- Partner closely with Product Managers to translate product strategy and roadmap initiatives into detailed feature requirements and user stories
- Collaborate with Engineering, UX, and QA teams to refine requirements, clarify business logic, and ensure readiness for development
- Own and manage the team backlog, ensuring priorities are clearly defined and aligned with business objectives
- Write detailed epics, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria
- Lead backlog refinement sessions and support sprint planning activities with Engineering teams
- Work directly with developers during implementation to answer questions, clarify requirements, and support delivery execution
- Partner closely with Engineering to identify delivery risks, dependencies, scope tradeoffs, and requirement gaps in the development lifecycle
- Monitor development progress and proactively address requirement issues that could impact release timelines, scope, or quality
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and defect triage
- Ensure features are fully defined, dependencies are identified, and edge cases are considered prior to development
- Support Product Managers in gathering and synthesizing input from Client Success, Services, and Sales into clear requirements
- Support user acceptance testing, release readiness activities, and post-release validation
- Continuously improve backlog quality, delivery processes, and cross-functional collaboration
What We’re looking For
- 4-6 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar delivery-focused product role supporting Agile software development teams
- Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to understand APIs, data flows, system configurations, permissions models, and integration requirements.
- Experience working closely with Agile Engineering teams in a SaaS, preferably B2B, software environment
- Strong experience writing detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and functional requirements
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize a product backlog in a fast-paced Agile environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Technical aptitude and understanding of software development concepts and processes
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and product analytics platforms is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred
You Believe
- Clear requirements and strong collaboration lead to better product outcomes
- Solving customer problems requires close partnership between Product and Engineering
- Agile development thrives on communication, transparency, and continuous improvement
- Delivering high-quality user experiences requires attention to detail and operational excellence
