As an Intermediate Accountant at Best Buy, you will support inventory accounting through journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis while driving process improvements and gaining exposure to core accounting operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The successful candidate is needed to be located within the Lower Mainland, BC, where we will practice a remote-first working model, leveraging in-person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.
Join our collaborative accounting team as an Intermediate Accountant.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare and analyze financial data, including journal entries, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations, while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Enterprise Finance Policy, and SOX controls.
- Manage consignment inventory accounting processes, including vendor reconciliations, inventory balancing across systems, and timely resolution of discrepancies and mailbox inquiries.
- Oversee the allocation of freight, storage, and markdown expenses, and develop reporting that provides meaningful insights for business decision-making.
- Design and improve reconciliation templates, reporting, and data extraction processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Partner with stakeholders to investigate issues, provide data-driven recommendations, and support continuous process improvements.
- Leverage strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and financial systems knowledge (Oracle and RMS are assets) while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture that values innovation, continuous improvement, and celebrating success together.
What we’re looking for:
- 1+ years of experience understanding controls, performing routine reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Intermediate MS Excel skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in Accounting.
- Second-year CPA program.
- Familiarity with SQL and Oracle Cloud is an asset.
