Employer description
As a Technical Writer the individual designs, plans, coordinates, writes, and illustrates technical documentation and user guides for R&D product and system programs. The role involves planning, developing, writing, and editing operational and maintenance information related to products, systems, and solutions. These materials are published as web-based documentation for both internal and external users and may include Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and various forms of multimedia content.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality, customer-oriented technical documentation for complex optical networking products, aligning with SDLC, DDLC, and structured writing principles.
- Independently manage documentation schedules and deliverables, ensuring timely releases that align with product development timelines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including PLM, R&D, and Test to gather accurate technical information for documentation.
- Develop and maintain API documentation and integrate content into web-based publications using tools like Arbortext, Oxygen XML, and graphic editors (e.g., SnagIt, CorelDraw).
- Leverage Agile methodologies and DevOps practices to align documentation workflows with continuous software delivery cycles.
- Utilize defect-tracking and content management systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to manage content lifecycle, reviews, and updates.
- Create single-sourced, reusable content within a structured content management environment to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Continuously improve documentation quality and usability, applying expert product knowledge and adhering to corporate standards and quality benchmarks
Qualifications
You Have
- Bachelor's degree with 5-6 Yrs of experience in technical documentation, preferably in the Optical Networking or Telecommunications domain.
- Proven expertise in structured writing principles, the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and the Documentation Development Life Cycle (DDLC).
- Strong proficiency in XML authoring tools (e.g., Arbortext or Oxygen) and graphic tools (e.g., SnagIt, CorelDraw).
- Hands-on experience with API documentation, including integration into customer-facing technical content.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and DevOps practices, including working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and DevOps practices, including working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
- Working knowledge of basic UNIX and scripting for interacting with development/test environments.
- Experience with single-sourcing strategies and content management systems for scalable content development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to independently manage documentation schedules and deliverables
