Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our platform that supports enterprise system applications, integrations, and services. You’ll help with the entire lifecycle right from concept stage until delivery and post-launch support.
The candidate will be heavily involved in driving the technology strategy, best practices, and roadmap at Abercrombie & Fitch. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to execute and deliver associate experiences on our Product Facing Systems.
Responsibilities include operating, maintaining, and optimizing applications running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) across multiple environments. Candidates are expected to proactively research new trends and capabilities applicable to our platform solutions, maintaining, upgrading and developing solutions to enhance our platforms and collaborating with third-party software vendors, etc.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab, and related tools.
- Proactive monitoring for updates & research to stay current on emerging technologies, cloud capabilities, Kubernetes advancements, and industry best practices.
- Design and implement Azure platform architecture, including landing zones, management groups, subscriptions, networking, and governance.
- Manage, maintain, and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) environments across production and non-production landscapes, including:
- Kubernetes resource management and application onboarding
- Cluster lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching
- SSL certificate and secret lifecycle management
- Service principal credential renewal and access management
- Build, maintain, and deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring platforms leverage current standards and reusable modules.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, certificate renewals, and operational workflows.
- Support application teams with Kubernetes deployments, troubleshooting, release management, and environment promotion strategies.
- Manage platform security and access controls, including RBAC, SAS tokens, Key Vault integration, and security best practices.
- Ensure observability, monitoring, and platform health through tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Drive standardization across environments, including networking, security, monitoring, deployment, and operational practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and production issues across all environments.
- Establish and enforce engineering, deployment, and operational best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, infrastructure patterns, and deployment templates.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, architects, business partners, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions and a high level of customer service.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, feature planning, dependency management, and project delivery activities.
- Mentor and assist with onboarding team members while contributing to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Identify risks early, develop mitigation plans, and contribute to application and platform roadmaps.
What Do You Need To Bring?
- 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced environment maintaining cloud-based technology
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure and platform services in Azure, including cloud migrations, governance, networking, and security.
- Proven track record of improving system reliability and scalability
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform/Bicep), and application deployment automation.
- Strong understanding of platform reliability, scalability, observability, and performance optimization, including monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar solutions.
- Experience defining and enforcing security standards, access controls, networking patterns, and operational best practices across enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with Java APIs (Spring Boot, Kafka) and React based UIs and troubleshooting techniques, including profiling and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of source control and development tools, including GitLab, Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Proven ability to continuously improve deployment pipelines, platform capabilities, and engineering practices through automation, AI, and modern DevOps approaches.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from solution design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
- Strong organizational, time management skills & work ethic - ability to drive to an outcome individually as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence decisions, build consensus, and work effectively across teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, elevate, and mitigate technical risks.
- Self-starter who enjoys understanding architectural decisions, solving complex problems, and continuously learning new technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while balancing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Experience or excitement to leverage AI & automation tools within day-to-day practices
- Excitement to support onboarding and mentoring teammates to contribute to the success of the broader engineering organization.
- Retail and/or e-commerce experience preferred.

This role allows for remote work across the U.S.. Therefore, in states and cities that require the hourly or salary compensation or pay range to be included in a job posting, the recruiting pay range for this position is $121,000 - $144,000. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, your years of experience, your work location, comparison to other employees in similar or related roles, or market demands. The range may be modified in the future.
