Job Description
Job Summary: End-to-end responsibility for maintenance, reliability, availability, lifecycle management and cost optimization of heavy mobile equipment.
Responsibilities Summary
- KEY EQUIPMENT - Hydraulic Excavators – Volvo EC480/EC550, CAT 345/349/390 class; Wheel Loaders – CAT 980/988, Volvo L220/L260 class; Dump Trucks – CAT 773/777, Komatsu HD785/HD1500; Mobile Screens/Crushers; Dozers, skid steers, cranes and support equipment; breakers, magnets, drop-ball systems, buckets and other attachments.
- MAINTENANCE & RELIABILITY - Develop preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies; optimize PM schedules; improve MTBF and reduce MTTR; monitor engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, undercarriage, final drives, electrical and structural components; establish component-life monitoring; conduct RCA/RCFA for critical and repetitive failures.
- FLEET MANAGEMENT - Establish equipment criticality ranking and health monitoring; monitor Availability, Utilization, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, breakdown %, maintenance cost/hour and component life; identify bad actors; implement fleet reliability improvement plans; optimize fleet size against production requirements.
- MAJOR REPAIRS & REBUILDS - Plan and execute major component replacements, machine rebuilds and mid-life overhauls; develop technical scopes, BOQs and specifications; evaluate OEM versus alternate/reconditioning solutions using lifecycle cost and reliability; control rebuild quality, inspection and commissioning.
- CAPEX & TECHNICAL PROCUREMENT - Prepare technical justification for equipment replacement/addition; develop URS, technical specifications and bid evaluation criteria; perform TCO analysis; participate in OEM/vendor techno-commercial evaluation; validate payload, duty cycle, operating environment, productivity and safety requirements; lead FAT/SAT, inspection, commissioning and performance acceptance.
- COST & ASSET MANAGEMENT - Control OPEX/CAPEX budgets; monitor maintenance cost per operating hour and cost per tonne; develop 5-year component and fleet replacement plans; optimize critical spares; drive warranty recovery and OEM performance accountability.
- SAFETY & COMPLIANCE -Ensure compliance with statutory, OEM and company maintenance standards; enforce LOTO, safe isolation, lifting/rigging and equipment-specific procedures; ensure inspection/certification of critical equipment; promote zero-incident maintenance execution.
- DIGITAL / DATA-DRIVEN MAINTENANCE - Use FMS, telematics, OEM monitoring platforms, CMMS/Oracle and Power BI; develop dashboards for availability, utilization, fuel, component life, downtime and maintenance cost; use condition-monitoring data for predictive maintenance.
