Summer 2027 AI Infrastructure & Networking Consulting Internship

Location: Minneapolis, Mn (Hybrid but based in Mn for summer) Duration: June 1 - August 20, 2027 (10–12 weeks) Status: Internship, Full-Time (Paid) Target Candidates: Undergraduate, Master’s, Graduate-Level or PhD Students.

Elire and Role Overview

Elire is a trusted Oracle consulting partner with over 20 years of experience delivering ERP, EPM, HCM, and Treasury transformations across public and private sector clients with their PeopleSoft, Oracle Cloud and Treasury Management Systems like Kyriba, FIS, etc. We combine deep business and technical expertise with a people-first, consulting-driven approach to help organizations modernize systems, improve decision-making, and prepare for the future of work.

As AI continues to reshape how organizations operate, Elire is investing in responsible, human-in-the-loop AI solutions that enhance - not replace - our consultants and clients. Our Summer 2027 AI Infrastructure & Networking Consulting internship program gives advanced students hands-on exposure to applied AI in a real consulting environment, with an emphasis on practical problem-solving, sound technical judgment, and work that can move from concept toward usable solutions.

The Opportunity

The AI Infrastructure & Networking Consulting Internship will focus on the cloud, networking, security, and cluster infrastructure needed to support AI workloads and solutions. This role is designed for a technically advanced Master's or PhD student with practical knowledge of virtual cloud networking, network security, and the deployment and scaling of containerized clusters such as Kubernetes (K8s) or RKE2. The right candidate will be able to reason through infrastructure decisions, troubleshoot issues, and help design environments that are secure, scalable, and supportable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, configuration, testing, and documentation of infrastructure used for Elire AI prototypes and internal solutions.
  • Work with virtual cloud network (VCN) concepts including subnets, routing, connectivity, segmentation, and related network architecture.
  • Evaluate and support network security controls, access patterns, firewall/security rules, and secure connectivity requirements.
  • Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and scale containerized environments and clusters using Kubernetes (K8s), RKE2, or comparable technologies.
  • Assess infrastructure capacity, availability, performance, and scaling considerations for AI and data workloads.
  • Support automation and repeatable environment configuration using appropriate cloud, DevOps, or infrastructure tooling.
  • Investigate infrastructure and networking issues, test solutions, and document root causes, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Elire AI and technical leaders and present technical findings or a final project at the end of the internship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Cloud Computing, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, subnets, routing, DNS, connectivity, and network security concepts.
  • Hands-on knowledge of virtual cloud networking / VCN concepts and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with Kubernetes (K8s), RKE2, or comparable container-orchestration technologies.
  • Understanding of cluster deployment, scaling, availability, and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to diagnose technical issues and make reasoned infrastructure recommendations.
  • Ability to document architectures, configurations, issues, and technical decisions clearly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including VCNs and related networking/security services.
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, GCP, Linux administration, containers, Docker, or infrastructure-as-code tooling.
  • Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, DevOps, observability, monitoring, or automated deployment practices.
  • Exposure to infrastructure requirements for AI/ML workloads, data platforms, or GPU/compute-intensive environments.
  • Prior research, lab, internship, or project experience involving cloud infrastructure, networking, Kubernetes, or security.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Real-world experience applying AI and advanced technology in a consulting and enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on work with experienced consultants, technical leaders, and Elire innovation initiatives.
  • Professional development focused on critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and client-ready delivery.
  • The opportunity to own meaningful work and present findings or a final project at the end of the internship.
  • Potential consideration for an internship extension based on business need and performance; an extension may be remote.

Who Will Be Successful

This internship is intended for someone who is technically capable, curious, self-directed, and comfortable being challenged. We are looking for a student who can do the work, think critically about the work, ask strong questions, and use AI as a tool without outsourcing technical judgment to it.
