This holistic, cradle-to-grave approach on projects means that that we are a trusted parter to our clients through the various stages of the project. Norton Rose Fulbright LLP isthe go-to firm for complex energy and climate transition projects nationally and internationally.
The role
As an associate, you will play an active role in advising clients on complex projects, transactions and commercial arrangements in the energy and industry sector. You will take ownership of workstreams, work closely with partners and clients, and be involved in negotiations from an early stage.
Your work will include:
- Drafting and reviewing key commercial agreements (including supply and offtake agreements, tolling agreements, PPAs, realisation agreements and EPC contracts) and supporting clients in negotiations with counterparties and other stakeholders;
- Advising on the development of (renewable) energy projects;
- Advising on the regulatory frameworks that shape the energy market, including licensing and permitting processes where relevant;
- Preparing clear and practical legal analyses and memoranda on complex contractual and regulatory issues;
- Advising on energy‑related M&A and banking transactions (including acquisitions, divestments and project financing) relating to (renewable) energy projects such as wind and solar;
You will become part of the integrated Energy Projects team led by Marjolein Dieperink and Daphne Broerse. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across a range of practice groups, including the Amsterdam M&A and Banking & Finance teams. In addition, you will regularly collaborate with colleagues from other NRF offices worldwide, contributing to multidisciplinary teams on high‑profile energy and infrastructure projects.
Your profile
- We are looking for a talented lawyer with approximately 4 to 8 years of relevant experience, ideally gained at a leading law firm, with respect to the energy, infrastructure or industrial sector.
- You have experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and are familiar with the energy sector. While the primary focus of the role lies in private law matters, an interest in and understanding of the regulatory landscape affecting the energy sector is essential.
- You combine strong analytical and drafting skills with a pragmatic mindset and enjoy working in an international and collaborative environment. You are proactive, commercially aware and motivated to contribute to the further growth of a dynamic and ambitious practice.

We work closely with colleagues across our global network, offering exposure to complex cross-border matters and leading clients in the industry.
We offer high-quality work at the forefront of the energy transition, with real responsibility, direct client contact and room to grow. You can expect active mentoring and feedback, opportunities to develop your commercial and business development skills, and regular collaboration in multidisciplinary teams with our M&A and Banking & Finance colleagues.
