Employer description
Movable Ink scales content personalization for marketers through data-activated content generation and AI decisioning. The world’s most innovative brands rely on Movable Ink to maximize revenue, simplify workflow and boost marketing agility. Headquartered in New York City with close to 600 employees, Movable Ink serves its global client base with operations throughout North America, Central America, Europe, Australia, and Japan.
The Senior Full Stack Engineer role on the Designer Team collaborates closely and effectively with devs on the team, as well as product, design, and cross-team stakeholders to ship and maintain scalable, reliable, and performant full stack solutions amongst complex and critical systems in an exciting and highly dynamic environment.
The Designer Team develops and maintains self-service, enterprise-grade, dynamic WYSIWYG content creation at Movable Ink, as well as the high-throughput, real-time rendering pipeline that resolves and displays it. We own a broad, mission-critical, full stack domain spanning the front-end designer experience and the back-end systems across TypeScript, Ruby, Python, Rust, Go, and C++.
This is a great opportunity for the right individual who is always eager to step up to a challenge and excited to dive into an impressive system, grow with a fantastic team, and feel the direct impact of their ideas, collaborations, and solutions
Responsibilities:
- Independently deliver the right solutions across the system and stack, from design through rollout
- Consistently write reusable, adaptable, well-tested code with a command of each framework and language's patterns and idioms, without unnecessary complexity
- Refactor and simplify existing code appropriately, and proactively reduce toil and technical debt through personal investment and advocacy
- Build and improve tools and processes that make the team more efficient and drive alignment and consistency
- Ensure high-quality code and team growth through thorough, empathetic code reviews, resolving differences of opinion, fostering a collaborative culture, and having the courage to ask thoughtful questions and state your point of view
- Share and document your areas and efforts, pair, and support teammates by looking for opportunities to engage their strengths in your projects
- Proactively drive communication with stakeholders and teammates, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and contribute to interviewing and assessing candidates
Qualifications:
- 5+ years building and shipping production software as a full stack engineer
- Proven track record of independently shipping full stack features in a large codebase. Comfortable creating, reading, extending, and refactoring cod, and stewarding it from design through rollout
- High proficiency in at least two of our core languages (TypeScript, Ruby, Python, Rust, Go, C++) and the ability to ramp on the others, with a passion for detail toward idiomatic usage and best practices and patterns
- Experience writing reusable, adaptable, thoroughly tested code, with strong awareness of the available libraries and tools
- The judgment to separate what's needed from what can be scoped out, and to make and clearly communicate decisions, even when navigating ambiguous, imperfect, or open-ended information
- Ownership and proactive stewardship of what you build. A sharp eye for edge cases and externalities, and the instinct to raise them vocally and reduce toil and technical debt
- A consistently high bar for implementation, communication, process, and attitude, from modern patterns to both sides of a PR review, or working with stakeholders
- A collaborative, growth-minded approach: you guide teammates, apply feedback from all levels, and help grow others
The base pay range for this position is $$130,000 -182,000/year, which can include additional bonus depending on the position ultimately offered, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Studies have shown that women, communities of color, and historically underrepresented people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture where all Inkers can thrive. If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet all of the abovementioned qualifications, we encourage you to apply. Our differences bring a breadth of knowledge and perspectives that makes us collectively stronger.
We welcome and employ people regardless of race, color, gender identity or expression, religion, genetic information, parental or pregnancy status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, ethnicity, family or marital status, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, disability, Veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
