General Description:
BeOne Medicines is building a unified enterprise data and AI platform ecosystem to help bring affordable medicines to more patients worldwide. This role will shape the foundation that enables trusted data products, advanced analytics, integration, automation, and AI at global scale.
Reporting to the VP of Global Data Strategy and Solutions, this leader owns the strategy, architecture, engineering, operations, FinOps, enablement, and governance for enterprise data and AI platforms. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical credibility to deliver scalable, compliant, self-service platform capabilities across regulated global environments.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Platform Strategy & Architecture
- Define and execute the multi-year architecture and roadmap for enterprise data and AI platforms.
- Publish standards and reusable patterns for ingestion, integration, streaming, semantic layers, analytics, and AI workloads.
- Design scalable, multi-domain platforms for regulated, multi-region operations.
- Lead architecture governance, technology evaluations, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Rationalize overlapping tools, reduce technical debt, and prevent duplicate investments.
- Lead vendor strategy, licensing, and partnerships aligned to the platform roadmap.
AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
- Embed AI into the data lifecycle to improve metadata, quality, lineage, documentation, productivity, support, and cost management.
- Define enterprise patterns for AI-enabled analytics, conversational BI, RAG, evaluation, observability, and responsible AI.
- Partner with domain leaders to turn high-value AI and analytics pilots into secure, reusable enterprise capabilities.
- Maintain an innovation backlog that balances speed, business value, and regulatory discipline.
Cost Management & Computational Governance
- Own platform FinOps, including capacity planning, budget governance, and cost optimization across the data platform ecosystem.
- Create cost transparency through showback/chargeback, business reviews, workload policies, tagging, and anomaly detection.
- Set and achieve measurable cost-efficiency targets as workloads scale.
Engineering, Operations & Reliability
- Own platform engineering and operational health across architecture, access, infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and disaster recovery.
- Deliver platform-as-a-product capabilities, including provisioning, onboarding, secure access, deployment templates, reusable frameworks, and self-service developer experiences.
- Implement SRE practices for availability, performance, incident management, capacity planning, release management, disaster recovery, and production support.
- Manage accelerators and reusable frameworks as products with clear roadmaps, release plans, and backlogs.
- Define the validated-platform approach for GxP-relevant use cases, including risk-based validation, change control, evidence, audit trails, and periodic reviews.
- Ensure platforms meet SOX, GxP, privacy, and data-residency requirements across global operations.
- Establish observability for data products, pipelines, anomalies, incidents, and remediation ownership.
Organization, Operating Model & Leadership
- Build and lead a global Data Platform CoE/shared-services team across architecture, engineering, DevOps/IaC, FinOps, and observability.
- Define the engagement model between centralized platform teams and federated domain data-product teams.
- Engage senior executives and technical leaders to align platform strategy with business priorities.
- Run communities of practice with data practitioners to refine roadmaps, standards, and platform features.
- Develop talent through standards, architecture forums, training, coaching, and hands-on technical leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Leads a global data platform organization of employees and partner resources across Centers of Excellence and shared-services teams.
- Hires, develops, and manages senior individual contributors and people managers; owns the platform operating and capital budget.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in data platforms, data engineering, or enterprise data architecture, including 5+ years leading teams and managers.
- Deep architecture expertise with Databricks, Azure data services, and medallion lakehouse architecture at enterprise scale.
- Strong cloud architecture experience across Azure and AWS, including IaC, automation, and global multi-region deployment.
- Experience delivering AI and GenAI platform capabilities, including AI/BI, semantic layers, conversational BI, MLOps/LLMOps, model serving, RAG, vector search, and agentic applications.
- Strong cloud FinOps and automation background: cost optimization, governance, showback/chargeback, workload policy and capacity management.
- Broad experience managing an integrated data-platform ecosystem, including enterprise integration, MDM, data governance/cataloging, RPA, and related capabilities.
- Experience in a regulated industry, life sciences or pharmaceuticals preferred, including GxP, validation and data privacy requirements.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field; Master's degree preferred

Salary Range Poland: 347,800.00 PLN - 434,800.00 PLN
Salary Range Portugal: 76,800.00 EUR - 96,000.00 EUR
Salary Range Spain: 95,200.00 EUR - 119,000.00 EUR
