About the Role
The Instrument & Control Technician provides skills, experience, and expertise in the operations, maintenance, repair of instrumentation and control devices used to monitor and/or control various types of equipment and facilities. This includes transmitters, signal transmission systems, HMI, control processors, SIS, PCNs F&G systems, DCS/SCADA systems and final control elements.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads Inspection, Testing and Preventative Maintenance Routine programs
- Qualifies and performs initial witness of proving and calibration
- Confer with Operations Support and Project Engineers on scopes that impact instrumentation
- Conduct daily maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems within production operations
- Equipment includes but is not limited to: flow, level, pressure, and temperature and vibration transmitters and principles of instrumentation (Including smart protocols such as Hart and fieldbus); digital valve controllers (DVC) and control valves; motor-operated valves (MOVs); control valves & valve positioners
- Pressure switches and relays; fire and gas detection and protective systems
- Maintain accurate records of calibration, repairs, and maintenance activities
- Update P&IDs, loop drawings, and instrumentation databases.
- Generate reports on equipment performance and reliability issues
- Understand and adhere to the Management of Change (MoC) processes
- Strictly adhere to Company HSE Policies, Safe Operating Procedures and Control of Work (Permit) systems. Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments
- Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas. Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Diploma or technical certification in Instrumentation, Control Systems, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong understanding of process instrumentation and control principles
- Proficiency with calibration equipment (HART communicators, pressure calibrators, multimeters)
- Experience with PLC/DCS and HMI’s associated with industrial control systems (e.g., Rockwell)
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently or within multidisciplinary teams
- Good communication and documentation skills
