Vanuatu: Security Guard (Port Vila Temple)

The Special Projects Department (SPD) is seeking a dedicated Security Guard to help protect Church properties, employees, visitors, and guests. This role provides security coverage to safeguard facilities from fire, theft, vandalism, trespassing, and unauthorized entry, while also delivering first aid assistance and responding appropriately to emergencies and security-related incidents. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, provide excellent customer service, and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment to temple patrons. This is a permanent full-time position based at the Port Vila Temple reporting to the Temple Security Supervisor. Responsibilities

Conduct regular patrols and inspections of Church buildings and grounds during assigned shifts

Check doors, windows, gates, and other access points to ensure facilities remain secure

Identify and report security risks, safety hazards, and potential unauthorized entry points

Provide assistance, information, and directions to employees, visitors, and guests

Respond appropriately to security incidents, disturbances, threats, and emergencies, including liaising with emergency services when required

Render first aid assistance and coordinate medical response services as needed

Complete security reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and unusual events

Participate in ongoing security training to develop knowledge, skills, and security awareness

Work flexible shifts and be available to assist during emergency situations when required

Qualifications

• High school/secondary school graduate or equivalent
• 2 years of any combination of related experience or progress towards or completion of a university (post-secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification
• Understand and exemplify the core Leadership Pattern talents: lead like the Savior, act under the direction of the Spirit, and align with the brethren
• Good reading, writing and communications skills for dealing with wide range of patrons and visitors on a daily basis
• Requires tact and judgment in exercising duties
• Successful completion of required screening, prescribed security training and certification such as CPR, First Aid, Basic
• Security Procedures, evacuation plans, local laws, and civilian unrest
• Ability to work any shift or post as needed
• Must be able to lift to 23 kg (50 lbs.)
• Experience in using, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarms and surveillance equipment
• Physical activity includes hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motion
• The employee will be involved in activities, both inside and outside, that include environmental conditions, cold, heat, narrow aisles, passageways, and moving vehicles
• Some sedentary work and heavy work required
• Proof of legal right to work in Vanuatu
• A police background check is required
