The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a critical role in supporting safe, compliant, and efficient operations at the Membrane Solutions manufacturing facility in St. Louis. This hands-on position partners closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and site leadership teams to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance.
The EHS Specialist maintains a visible presence on the production floor, actively engaging with employees to identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, support incident investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively. This role also supports EHS reporting and analytics by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), maintaining dashboards, analyzing trends, and providing actionable insights that support operational excellence and risk reduction.
Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to safety, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor to promote safe work practices and reinforce EHS expectations
- Conduct routine safety observations, inspections, and workplace assessments to identify hazards and potential risks
- Assist in incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up
- Track, monitor, and report EHS performance metrics, including both leading and lagging indicators
- Develop and maintain EHS dashboards, reports, and data analytics to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, safety observations, compliance audits, and inspection activities
- Coordinate and maintain EHS training records, documentation, and employee participation tracking
- Partner with supervisors and employees to address safety concerns and drive timely resolution of identified issues
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of site EHS programs, policies, and procedures
- Maintain accurate records related to incidents, inspections, training, corrective actions, and compliance requirements
- Support regulatory compliance efforts and ensure adherence to OSHA and company EHS standards
- Promote employee engagement through participation in safety initiatives, awareness programs, and continuous improvement activities
- Provide support for off-shift or weekend operations as required by business needs
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and continuous learning in EHS disciplines
- Knowledge of workplace hazard recognition and risk mitigation practices
- Understanding of EHS compliance requirements, safety inspections, incident documentation, and corrective action management
- Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize EHS data to support business decisions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Power BI, SAP, EHS management systems, or other reporting platforms preferred
- Ability to support audits, inspections, training documentation, and safety program administration
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting, recordkeeping, and data management
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing or EHS experience may be considered
- 1–3 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing, industrial, logistics, maintenance, or operations environment preferred
- Experience supporting or working within a 24/7 manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety principles, hazard identification, and incident reporting practices
- Experience with EHS metrics, KPI reporting, data analysis, and dashboard development preferred
