The Opportunity

The Senior Analyst, Global Trade Management provides support to Finance Operations teams, including Investments, Performance & Risk Analytics, and Compliance.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of Finance Operations processes and a high level of knowledge of fixed income and equity products. In this role, you will be at the center of OTPP's public markets activity, ensuring the accurate capture, confirmation, and settlement of trades across global markets while maintaining strong operational controls and mitigating risk.

You will support day-to-day trade lifecycle activities, investigate and resolve trade, system, and data-related issues, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of straight-through processing and order management platforms. The role also provides opportunities to review the work of peers, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to broader team and departmental initiative

Who you'll work with

The Senior Analyst reports to the Manager, Global Trade Management. They will collaborate with Technology and Investment teams, as well as external clients, service providers, consultants, and vendors, to support both business-as-usual activities and project initiatives that meet the Plan's evolving requirements.

What you'll do

Team Coordination and Troubleshooting:

  • Review daily work, set priorities, and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and review the team’s work to ensure accuracy and adherence to control standards.
  • Resolve problems, communicate issues to impacted stakeholders, and recommend procedural changes.
  • Assist the team with complex issues and training.
  • Back up team members during absences.

Daily Operations:

  • Coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure all critical aspects of the trade lifecycle are completed, including pre-trade analysis, trade capture, confirmation, and settlement of cash and derivative products.
  • Participate in production support for various processes and systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrate “Expert User” status in understanding departmental processes and systems, sharing knowledge with team members.

Verification and Control:

  • Ensure internal control standards are met.
  • Check and reconcile information for accuracy, resolving discrepancies.
  • Review files and information prepared by others.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation.

Report Production:

  • Generate standard reports.
  • Design and deliver non-standard reports based on requests.

Project Leadership:

  • Plan and execute projects under the Manager’s guidance.
  • Coordinate project tasks with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with IT, Investments, and other teams on system-related projects.
  • Assist with activities related to system upgrades, new releases, and bug fixes.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new processes and systems.
  • Collaborate on recommendations for process changes and improvements.
  • Own components of change management or process improvements.
  • Develop and implement test plans.
  • Research, identify, and document new markets, products, processes, or systems.
  • Recommend and implement procedural changes.

Client Services:

  • Provide information and services to internal and external clients.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests professionally and timely.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Investments, service providers, consultants, and vendors in delivering solutions.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality service.
  • Request and provide information as needed to established suppliers (e.g. Custodian, Counterparties, Systems providers, etc.).
  • Represent the organization professionally.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Investigate system handling of products, including testing problems and new systems.
  • Analyze and implement new processes and systems.
  • Maximize the use of technology in all work processes.
  • Provide constructive ideas related to the Board’s operations.
  • Document complex aspects of products, processes, and systems.
  • Maintain personal awareness and current knowledge of issues affecting the Board’s operations.
  • Represent OTPP in a professional manner.
  • Train team members as required.
  • Back up team members during absences.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

What you'll need

  • Relevant university degree (such as Business, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent relevant experience with Investment Finance processes
  • 2+ years of experience in Investment Operations, trade support, or middle‑office functions
  • Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle for cash and derivative products; exposure to clearing and settlement processes is an asset.
  • Experience with global confirmation platforms (e.g., CTM, GTSS, MarkitWire, ICE, Traiana) is an asset.
  • Experience with SimCorp or similar investment book‑of‑record systems is an asset.
  • Experience with Charles River or similar order management systems is an asset.Requires an individual with in-depth experience in Investment Finance processes (2 years or more)
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend a solution
  • Excellent quantitative and computer skills (Excel and Access), including an understanding of database concepts
  • Good background skills and knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes
  • Must be able to work to deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity levels
  • Must  be extremely detail oriented, organized and thorough
  • Self starter, confident, innovative, team player
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively deal with internal and external clients and suppliers
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Enrollment in the CFA program an asset
  • Must be able to effectively deal with internal clients and suppliers
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

What we’re offering

This position is eligible for base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance.

Base Salary starting at $89,500 with future opportunity of up to $101,900.
