Employer description
Company Overview: Sustainment is an AI-native software platform that helps US-based manufacturers easily find and work with the critical suppliers they need to build and manage their supply chains. Our vision is to reimagine American manufacturing as a hyperconnected, secure, and resilient ecosystem of local and regional suppliers who can more easily connect, interact, and do business with the industry and government customers that rely on them. We are a dual-use technology platform that supports both DoD and commercial customers in pursuit of our vision.
Job Overview: We’re looking for a smart, collaborative, and execution-oriented Product Manager or Senior Product Manager to join our growing team. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, care deeply about customers, and enjoy turning ambiguity into impactful products, we’d love to talk.
In this role, you will own the product lifecycle end-to-end—from user research and strategy through delivery, launch, and iteration. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Design, and cross-functional partners to build and scale products that deliver real value to our customers.
Depending on experience, you will either own a scoped product area or lead a broader product domain or customer segment (e.g., federal and defense customers), helping shape both product strategy and execution.
Responsibilities:
- Own the product lifecycle end-to-end: discovery, requirements, development, launch, and iteration
- Define and execute the product roadmap, aligned with company goals, customer needs, and technical constraints
- Serve as the Product Leader for engineering teams:
- Own and manage the product backlog
- Write clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria
- Prioritize work based on customer value, business impact, and technical considerations
- Participate in and help guide Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives)
- Partner closely with Engineering, UX, Data, Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing to deliver high-quality product experiences
- Gather and synthesize customer and market insights through direct engagement with customers and internal stakeholders
- Drive cross-functional alignment and communicate product direction effectively across all levels of the organization
- Lead product and feature launches, including rollout planning, enablement, and post-launch analysis
- Use data to inform decisions, measure success, and continuously improve the product
- Evaluate market opportunities and competitive landscape to inform product strategy
For Senior Product Managers:
- Own a product domain or customer segment (e.g., federal/defense), including strategy, roadmap, and outcomes
- Partner with leadership on long-term product strategy and go-to-market alignment
- Navigate complex environments such as regulated industries, government customers, or multi-stakeholder ecosystems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Product Management experience:
- Product Manager: 2–4 years
- Senior Product Manager: 5+ years with demonstrated ownership of product areas or domains
- Experience working in a venture-backed or high-growth startup environment
- Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize a product backlog and translate business needs into clear product requirements
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual), with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to self-manage, operate with autonomy, and thrive in ambiguity
- Detail-oriented with a strong strategic mindset—comfortable moving between big-picture thinking and execution
- Passion for building products that deliver meaningful customer and user value
Nice to Have:
- Experience in eCommerce, supply chain, or logistics
- Experience working with or selling into federal or defense customers
- Familiarity with regulated or compliance-heavy environments
