Job Description

The Sr. Manager; Quality Engineering leads a team responsible for quality standards, shared frameworks, and adoption guidelines. This role oversees the design and implementation of testing procedures for APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns to address distributed computing challenges, including end-to-end and integration testing. The Sr. Manager participates in design reviews, providing input on requirements, product designs, schedules, and potential issues, and works across the team to ensure productivity, predictability, and delivery of high-quality results.

The position includes accountability for code review and the team’s development and testing activities, as well as participation in proof of concepts and technical evaluations of new technologies. The Sr. Manager is expected to foster a collaborative environment, ensuring the team meets business needs and delivers robust solutions.

All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.

Responsibilities:

• Review business requirements and develop functional and technical design documentation.
• Design and implement testing procedures for APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns, including end-to-end and integration tests.
• Participate in design reviews to provide input on requirements, product designs, schedules, and potential issues.
• Ensure team productivity, predictability, and delivery of high-quality results.
• Review code and maintain accountability for the team’s development and testing activities.
• Participate in proof of concepts and technical evaluations of new technologies.

This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice. #LI-Remote

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in designing and implementing testing procedures for APIs and integration patterns.
• Experience in leading teams to ensure productivity and high-quality delivery.
• Experience in code review and accountability for development/testing activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.
• Experience designing and implementing API, contract, integration, and service testing for distributed microservices, including service virtualization, mocking, test data management, and validation across multiple environments.
• Experience designing and executing performance, load, chaos, and resilience testing to identify scalability limits, resource constraints, degradation patterns, and system failure modes.
• Ability to use production signals, including incidents, logs, alerts, defects, and customer-impact patterns, to identify systemic quality gaps, improve test coverage, and engineer safeguards that prevent recurring production failures.
• Experience validating failure modes and correctness in event-driven and asynchronous architectures.
• Experience in fostering team collaboration and meeting business needs.
• Experience in delivering robust solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in integrating emerging technologies into software quality engineering practices.
