Lab Veterinary Technician

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Lab and Pharmacy team.

Role of Our Lab and Pharmacy Team: The duties include receiving and preparing blood, urine, and fecal samples for in-house laboratory analysis, sending them to outside laboratories as needed, recording data into the medical record, cleaning equipment after use, restocking supplies, and assisting with other veterinary and pharmacy-related tasks.

Detailed List of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receiving, labeling, and safely storing samples for testing, both in-house and external
• Performing diagnostic tests (CBC, Chemistries, PCV, TP) and reporting results to the DVM and uploading them into our EMR system
• Sample and diagnostic test prioritization by case urgency and severity
• Organizing and storing samples to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of the sample
• Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibrating when needed
• Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
• Preparing, caring for, and disposing of tissue specimens for laboratory analysis
• Supporting other departments such as radiology, ER/ICU, and pharmacy as needed
• Cleaning and restocking the lab and pharmacy area, organizing supplies in designated locations
• Filling prescriptions and assisting with weekend pharmacy duties, including label creation (if applicable)
• Preparing samples for shipping to various departments
• Performing radiology stocking and cleanliness, and assisting with animal handling as needed
• Assisting with inventory management by providing updates for supply ordering

Schedule: Part-time with rotating weekends. This is an Evening/Swing position, typically shift 6 pm -11 pm.
