About the Opportunity
Job Summary
The Shansky Lab is seeking a full-time technician to conduct National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded behavioral neuroscience research. The position includes lab management responsibilities such as ordering supplies, maintaining the laboratory, and training undergraduate students in laboratory protocols. The technician will also work independently on research activities, including rodent colony management, stereotaxic surgery, behavioral testing, tissue processing for fluorescent microscopy, and data collection and analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in a rodent neuroscience laboratory.
Preferred
- Experience with rodent colony management.
- Experience performing stereotaxic surgery.
- Experience conducting behavioral testing.
- Experience with tissue processing for fluorescent microscopy.
- Experience with data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Oversee undergraduate volunteer schedules and provide training on basic laboratory tasks and protocols.
- Conduct independent research activities, including rodent colony management, stereotaxic surgery, behavioral testing, tissue processing for fluorescent microscopy, and data collection and analysis.
- Assist graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with research projects.
- Order laboratory supplies and support laboratory operations and maintenance.

Expected Hiring Range:
$20.77 - $28.56
