DESCRIPTION
How you will make an impact:
As an EHS Specialist III, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting environmental health, safety, and sustainability initiatives at our Greencastle facility. Working as an individual contributor, you'll partner with operations teams to maintain a safe work environment, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in our EHS programs.
What you will do:
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and workplace assessments to identify and mitigate hazards
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels
- Monitor and maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations
- Support environmental compliance activities including permit management and regulatory reporting
- Manage chemical safety programs, including hazardous materials handling and waste management
- Coordinate emergency response preparedness and business continuity planning
- Perform industrial hygiene assessments and implement controls for workplace exposures
- Track and analyze EHS metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into daily operations
REQUIREMENTS
What we require:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related technical field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on EHS experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry settings
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, standards, and management systems
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance and work in varying environmental conditions (cold rooms, warehouses, etc.)
- Willingness to wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
Nice to have (but not required):
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CRSP, or equivalent industry credentials
- Advanced degree or EHS Certificate in related discipline
- Familiarity with EHS software systems
- Experience with emergency response and business continuity planning
- Additional language skills
- Experience in a warehouse/distribution environment
