Employer description

About NewWorld

NewWorld is a media company that restores our ability to imagine a world better than the one we inherited. We build the stories, worlds, and communities where that future stops feeling radical and starts feeling popular, possible, and ours to demand and get.

We do this three ways: original shows we own, strategy and Command Center services we deliver for clients, and shows with charitable purpose commissioned through our Media Fund. One studio, one method, one point of view.

What a Creative Command Center does

A Command Center is a small, senior, always-on team that connects four things normally kept apart: research (rigorous information on audiences and what/who they tune into), creators (the people our audiences usually trust more than other institutions), production (content shipped at the speed of the platforms), and amplification (taking the best and most responsive content and moving it creatively through the algorithm).

A Command Center works in two stages. The first is activation, which means identifying the voices a particular audience already trusts and briefing them well enough that they will speak in their own words about something they had not previously been talking about. Those voices are rarely the client's own channels and never paid spokespeople reading from a script. We are connecting to the credibility of creators, commentators, community figures and coalition partners who have standing we cannot manufacture ourselves.

The second stage is amplification, and it is where most creator programs fail. A creator post that reaches only its own following remains a piece of content, while the same post picked up by amplifier accounts, placed behind paid social and digital, pitched into earned media, extended into out-of-home or a live event, and coordinated with distribution partners becomes the conversation itself. Making that happen requires directing a bench of specialist vendors so that their work compounds rather than running in parallel lanes, which is a large part of this job.

The Command Center operates in both directions. Reactive work means breaking a false or predatory story before its frame hardens, on a timeline measured in hours rather than weeks. Proactive work means setting the terms of a conversation before anyone else has the chance to.

Earlier this year we built a Command Center for a candidate facing roughly $10 million in attack spending from pro-AI-industry groups, beginning from almost no name recognition. The work generated 22 million views in a district of 750,000 voters and more than a million engagements, outperforming the industry engagement benchmark by a factor of three and paid engagement by nearly twelve. He finished within four points of winning, and the attack that was meant to end his candidacy became the thing his campaign was best known for.

The role

You will run 1-2 Creative Command Centers. The work involves turning a narrative strategy into an operation that ships on a reliable cadence: setting the operating rhythm and the approval paths, writing and commissioning the briefs, building and managing the roster of trusted voices, and directing the vendors who amplify them so that paid media, creator management, earned media and production are all working from one calendar and one set of metrics. You will also be the senior NewWorld person in the room with the client, which means you are trusted to make decisions without checking first.

The Command Centers coming online over the next year sit in different worlds, including financial confidence, product launches, worker power, gender and identity, product marketing, climate resilience and electoral politics, and we are not looking for a subject-matter expert in any one of them. What we need is someone who has moved between worlds over the course of their own career and can become fluent in a new one quickly, because that adaptation is the job rather than a prelude to it.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for eight to twelve or more years of experience across some combination of creator and influencer strategy, integrated campaign leadership, digital media, cultural and narrative strategy, brand, entertainment production, or rapid response. The shape of the experience matters more to us than the number of years.

  • You have owned something end to end and been accountable for the outcome rather than only the deliverables.
  • You have built a channel or an audience from nothing, whether a YouTube channel, a TikTok account, a newsletter, a podcast, a show or a community. We weight this experience heavily, because it is the difference between commissioning content and understanding why content travels.
  • You have managed creators or talent directly, which means giving feedback that improves the work and holding a standard without flattening someone's voice.
  • You have run integrated campaigns across paid, earned and organic channels, and you have directed outside vendors rather than executing every channel yourself.
  • You write short-form copy exceptionally well. The brief is the product in this role, and a brief that is dense or unclear will not produce anything.
  • You have been the senior person on a client relationship, with the judgment to know when to push a recommendation and when to absorb a decision you disagree with.
  • You stay calm when a moment is live, and you are willing to be fierce without being cruel. We name the company and the decision rather than performing outrage for the algorithm.
  • Your career has moved across worlds in ways that might look scattered on a conventional resume and are precisely what this role requires.

What this role is not

This is a full-time position for someone who wants to build something over a period of years, not a contract or fractional engagement. It is not social media management, and it is not influencer marketing, since reach is the entry cost here rather than the outcome we are measured against. It is also not a role in which someone hands you a finished strategy to coordinate.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range is $130,000 to $165,000, set by experience, and candidates at the upper end of the experience range should expect an offer in the upper half of that band. The role includes full benefits, with health coverage, and paid time off. It is remote and US-based, with the option to work from our New York office.

Equal opportunity

Equity is at the heart of NewWorld. From the clients we partner with to the team we are building, we are committed to creating opportunities for the talented, creative professionals who have been systematically denied them across this industry. Women, people of color, LGBTI people, people of any religion or nationality, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

How to apply

Send a resume along with a note of no more than 400 words responding to a single question: describe a moment when you needed to reach an audience that did not want to hear from you, and explain what you did. We would rather read one specific story than a cover letter.

Candidates who reach the shortlist will be asked to write a sample creator brief from a real prompt, and we pay for the time that takes.
