Employer description

When applying for this position, please ensure you use your external-facing profile / resume to avoid screening rejection.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies :

  • Lead cross-functional deployment of end-to-end material flow systems for major plant changes, new introductions, and capacity/footprint transformations across Powertrain Operations.
  • Ensure readiness of suppliers (for material delivery), internal logistics, and internal dunnage/container loops while integrating quality and traceability requirements.
  • Lead deployment of lean storage and intralogistics automation solutions (where justified) and ensure integration with digital execution and traceability.
  • Leads through influence; manages conflict constructively.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and closure discipline.

Responsibilities

End-to-End Material Flow System Knowledge & Implementation:

  • Define and deploy material flow concepts covering receiving, storage, internal logistics, point-of-use supply, finished goods movement, shipping, and empty-return loops for internal dunnage.
  • Establish exception flows (quarantine/hold, nonconforming material routing, rework loops, offline verification routing where applicable).
  • Define and govern automation zones in material flow concepts (handoff points, parking/charging constraints, do-not-block areas, and exception handling).

Internal Dunnage & Container System Design (Scale):

  • Lead internal returnable dunnage/container fleet strategy definition (e.g., for repack racks, kit bins/racks, sequence racks): container/rack families, spare philosophy, turnaround planning, storage footprint, repair and wash strategy (where applicable).
  • Improve governance for internal dunnage shortage prevention and recovery (controls, escalation, contingency methods).

Quality / Traceability Integration:

  • Ensure material flow and internal dunnage enable traceability and compliance (label content/placement standards, scan discipline, mix-prevention methods, containment flow).
  • Define internal dunnage-related controls for part protection, cleanliness, and damage prevention across multiple process areas.

Supplier Readiness (for Material Delivery) & Launch/Change Management:

  • Lead supplier readiness plans for material delivery: trial builds, capability reviews, PPAP delivery elements as applicable, deviation controls, and closure discipline.
  • Own internal cutover plans, training needs, and risk registers for MFE deliverables.

Team Development:

  • Mentor SG5/SG6 engineers; review and approve technical outputs (internal dunnage specs, PFEP governance, compliance plans).

Cost & Performance Ownership:

  • Own internal logistics cost models and drive reductions through standardization and waste elimination.
  • Develop/maintain business case inputs for automation and lean storage initiatives (labor impacts, safety/quality impacts, space recovery, internal container fleet impacts, total cost of ownership).

Automation / Lean Storage / Analytics-led Engineering:

  • Lead feasibility and cross-functional deployment for AGV/AMR initiatives (route concepts, interface requirements, acceptance criteria, commissioning/start-up support).
  • Lead implementation of lean storage solutions (high-density storage concepts, dynamic replenishment lanes, modular supermarkets) including change management and sustainment audits.
  • Coordinate simulation/digital twin studies (where required) to validate capacity, congestion, and route performance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Industrial/Production/Material Flow or related).

Typically 5–7 years’ experience in Material Flow Engineering / plant logistics engineering / manufacturing operations support.

Project/program leadership experience strongly preferred.

Clear written and verbal communication for cross-functional reviews.

Professional / Organizational Competencies Preferred

System-level material flow design and governance.

Strong engineering depth for internal returnable/expendable dunnage (e.g., repack racks, kit bins/racks, sequence racks) and container strategies.

Ability to lead risk-based planning and execution across multiple stakeholders.

Familiarity with intralogistics automation concepts (AGV/AMR operating model, handoff design, safety interface basics).

Coaches others and raises capability within the team.
