The Lead Business Analyst is responsible for providing leadership and coordination to a team of Senior Business Analysts. This role plays a key part in ensuring the quality of business analysis activities, prioritizing initiatives, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Acting as a bridge between business teams, IT teams, and external partners, the Lead Business Analyst also contributes to the evolution and maturity of business analysis practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and engage a team of Senior Business Analysts in delivering high-quality work and advancing their professional development.
- Ensure the quality, consistency, and completeness of analysis deliverables, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Business Use Cases (BUCs), user stories, and related artifacts.
- Influence strategic direction and decision-making in collaboration with Technical Leads, Solution Architects, and other key stakeholders.
- Act as the primary liaison between business teams, IT teams, and external partners.
Initiative Delivery & Execution
- Contribute to initiatives from business case development through to solution delivery.
- Ensure business needs are effectively prioritized in partnership with subject matter experts and key stakeholders.
- Identify, anticipate, and manage dependencies across initiatives and projects.
- Manage team capacity, work planning, and resource allocation.
- Support issue resolution and facilitate informed decision-making.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in governance committees, leadership forums, and decision-making bodies.
- Define business analysis standards, methodologies, and best practices, and ensure their adoption across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance analysis quality, consistency, and delivery effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT Business Analysis, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven ability to influence, engage, and challenge stakeholders at various organizational levels.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, workshop leadership, and relationship management skills.
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, web platforms, and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
- Bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken, due to regular interaction with Canadian and international stakeholders.
Assets
- CBAP, PMI-PBA, and/or PMP certification.
- Experience establishing business analysis practices, frameworks, or Centers of Excellence (CoE).
- Experience building and leading communities of practice or business analysis competency programs.
