As an Environmental Specialist II, III, or IV, you will apply technical expertise in air, water, and/or waste management to support environmental compliance, risk management, permitting, and operational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to grow from handling straightforward environmental matters to leading complex programs and projects, depending on experience and level.
Responsibilities/Expectations
- Develop, maintain, and provide guidance on environmental policies, processes, and compliance programs
- Assess environmental risks, recommend corrective actions, and support implementation of approved solutions, including required regulatory documentation
- Prepare and submit environmental permits, renewals, approvals, variances, and other regulatory authorizations while coordinating with internal stakeholders
- Support or lead environmental project planning and execution, including scheduling, cost estimating, impact assessments, and reporting
- Prepare compliance reports, certifications, environmental plans, inventories, and supporting documentation
- Conduct environmental training and provide technical guidance to company personnel
- Research and interpret federal, state, and local environmental regulations to ensure compliance
- Perform or support environmental compliance audits, due diligence investigations, and remediation activities as needed
- Develop and implement improvements to environmental systems and practices related to air, water, waste, and remediation management
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
- Mentor and guide less experienced personnel (Environmental Specialist IV)
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience
Environmental Specialist II: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2) years of environmental experience
Environmental Specialist III: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four (4) years of environmental experience
Environmental Specialist IV: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of environmental experience
Other Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to safety as a core value
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard PC software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with environmental permitting, compliance auditing, and regulatory reporting
- Knowledge of air quality, water quality, waste management, remediation, or related environmental programs
- Experience working with federal, state, or local regulatory agencies
