This temporary position is located at 1915 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh -- Wake County, with the Department of Administration.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $28.38 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Job duties include, but may not be limited to:

• Repairing, maintaining, replacing, and rebuilding mechanical and electrical automobile components in accordance with established automotive repair and maintenance practices.
• Performing minor and major engine repair or replacement, differential repairs, repairing of electrical components, air conditioning systems, steering and brake systems, as well as automotive computer diagnostics and repair.
• Performing other mechanical tasks such as changing oil, replacing tires, changing and/or replacing batteries as well as engine tune-ups.
• Documenting repairs to vehicles and cleaning work areas as well as performing other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment, or a sufficient year-for- year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
