Job Title: Technical Communications Intern
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Technical Communications Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
Work in the technical communications group supporting the creation of technical documentation for custom railroad maintenance equipment. Tasks include creating operator manuals, maintenance instructions, lockout / tagout manuals, and other technical communication materials.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in authoring technical content under the direct guidance of another technical writer or engineer.
- Analyze technical specifications and performance data to develop clear and concise documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering to gather information and resolve documentation issues.
- Prepare outlines and illustrations to support technical documents.
- Perform duties and subtasks in area of discipline of low complexity for a project or projects.
