Engineering Team Lead

Position Summary

We are seeking an Engineering Team Lead to lead the team responsible for delivering modern enrollment and onboarding experiences across multiple digital banking channels. This role combines technical leadership, people leadership, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• ## Lead and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers.
• ## Drive delivery of strategic enrollment and onboarding initiatives.
• ## Partner with Product, Architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to define priorities and roadmaps.
• ## Provide technical leadership across full-stack solutions leveraging Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and modern web technologies.
• ## Ensure delivery excellence through Agile practices, CI/CD, test automation, and engineering best practices.
• ## Manage technical dependencies, risks, and cross-team coordination.
• ## Support cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
• ## Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience Required:

• ## A combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ engineering and/or architecture experience and 3 years leadership experience
• ## Strong Java, Spring Boot, API, and microservices expertise.
• ## Angular and/or React development experience.
• ## Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• ## Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• ## Experience leading cross-functional teams and large initiatives.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• ## Bachelor’s degree
• ## Minimum of 10 years’ technology management or large program leadership experience
• ## Digital Banking and customer onboarding experience.
• ## Cloud-native architecture and Kubernetes experience.
• ## Experience working within Agile delivery organizations.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $116,400.00 - $194,000.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
