Employer description
Position Overview
CLF Consultants LLC seeks a Georgia-licensed Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with pediatric experience to deliver IEP-driven nursing services to students with special healthcare needs ages 3 through 21 across Whitfield County School System sites in Dalton, Georgia. Beyond the daily clinical work, this role is a frontline advocate for student health, continuity of care across the school day, and family communication on the student's wellbeing.
The LPN supports students under the supervision of the Special Education RN with medication administration, daily care for chronic conditions, monitoring of acute health events, and assistance with prescribed treatments identified in 504 plans, Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHP), and Individualized Education Programs (IEP). The role joins a multi-discipline contracted team aligned with Whitfield County's Special Education department. Caseloads run approximately 55-65 students per direct-service discipline as a population-level reference; actual direct-care assignments vary substantially by student acuity. Students requiring 1:1 nursing for ventilator dependence, tracheostomy, or other medically fragile needs are assigned at lower acuity-adjusted ratios. Assignment structures are calibrated by the Whitfield County Special Education department in coordination with CLFC based on each student's IHP and clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing services in accordance with each student's IEP, IHP, and 504 plan, under RN supervision per the Georgia Nurse Practice Act
- Serve as a frontline advocate for student health and continuity of care across the school day, including coordination with families and special education staff
- Administer medications and routine treatments per physician orders, district medication policy, and RN delegation
- Support diabetes monitoring (blood glucose checks, carb counting), seizure response coordination, gastrostomy and jejunostomy feeding assistance, nebulizer treatments, and other pediatric care under RN supervision
- Conduct daily health monitoring and routine screenings as assigned by the supervising RN
- Produce service-delivery logs matching each student's IEP and IHP service hours, in compliance with Medicaid billing documentation standards
Required Qualifications
- Active Georgia LPN license in good standing
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program
- Current CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated pediatric nursing experience working with students ages 3-21
- Familiarity with school-based nursing under RN supervision and IEP/IHP compliance
- Successful completion of background check per Whitfield County School System and Georgia Department of Education requirements
- Reliable transportation to multiple school sites within Whitfield County
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of pediatric LPN experience (school, clinic, home health, or hospital setting)
- Prior experience as a school LPN in a Georgia K-12 district
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Documented experience supporting complex pediatric cases (Type 1 diabetes, seizure disorders, gastrostomy/jejunostomy, tracheostomy) under RN supervision - eligible for the pediatric-complexity differential
- Experience with Medicaid documentation and service-log standards in a Georgia school setting
Compensation
- Hourly base range: $34.00 - $46.00 per hour for experienced school-based pediatric LPNs (independent contractor / 1099)
- High-acuity differential: +$2.00 - $4.00 per hour for LPNs supporting medically fragile caseloads (ventilator, tracheostomy, 1:1 high-acuity assignments) under RN supervision
- 1:1 assignment differential: +$2.00 - $4.00 per hour for LPNs assigned as a dedicated 1:1 nurse to a single student requiring continuous clinical monitoring across the school day
- Combined ceiling for high-acuity 1:1 LPNs: up to $50.00 per hour
- Bi-weekly pay frequency per CLFC standard contractor terms
