We build and connect technologies to help protect people, property and places. Our solutions foster the collaboration that’s critical for safer communities, safer schools, safer hospitals, safer businesses, and ultimately, safer nations. ## Department Overview
GPO Finance serves as a core strategic and operational partner to executive product and engineering leadership. Operating across a multi-billion-dollar global technology portfolio, the team drives long-range financial planning, R&D capital allocation, cloud FinOps governance (AWS, GCP, Azure), unit economics analysis, and AI/software investment evaluation. GPO Finance bridges technical operations with financial discipline to optimize margins, streamline spending, and accelerate growth across Motorola Solutions’ public safety and security portfolio.
## Job Description
As a Financial Analyst managing Cloud and AI spend, you will play a critical role in the financial governance, visibility, and optimization of our multi-cloud environment and AI tools. You will act as the financial bridge between our Accounting/Finance organizations and our Cloud Platform engineering teams. Your primary focus will be managing the financial lifecycle of our cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AI tools, ensuring accurate general ledger reporting, assessing tax compliance, and providing actionable insights for quarterly business reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track, review, and validate monthly cloud vendor invoices across multiple service providers, primarily focusing on AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure.
- Perform self-assessments of tax liabilities on Azure, GCP, and AWS invoices to ensure accurate tax remittance and compliance with regional regulations.
- Partner closely with the Cloud Platform Team to align on internal charge-out models for cloud consumption costs and engineering software licenses.
- Audit the Cloud Platform teams charge-out models to ensure development (R&D) and production (COGS) related charge-outs are mapped correctly to appropriate departments.
- Prepare the monthly charge-out journal entries and submit to accounting before GL cut-off.
- Collaborate directly with the Accounting to ensure appropriate month-end accruals are booked, and that applicable cloud invoices or prepaid licenses are correctly deferred and amortized over their useful life.
- Reconcile the General Ledger (GL) for the Cloud FinOps departments. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner so departments net to zero at month end.
- Maintain auditable records of official cloud spend and internal charge-outs.
- Partner with Cloud Platform team to optimize “CPS Dashboard” to ensure data matches cloud charge-outs and ties to the GL.
- Analyze and prepare Quarterly Cloud Business Review (QBR) deck, highlighting spend trends, forecast vs. actuals, cost optimization opportunities, and overall cloud financial health for leadership.
- Partner with the Cloud & AI Manager monthly to forecast out month/year cloud costs for the various products and business units.
- Routinely analyze and ensure the accuracy of product hierarchical mappings and cost to department routing.
- Own the AI Master Cost & Savings Tracker including Quarterly cost and savings loads to our centralized “AI Hub”.
- Assist on monthly / quarterly AI Ops and Leadership updates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, corporate accounting, or IT/Cloud finance.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles, particularly around GL reconciliations, accruals, and amortization.
- Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and enterprise planning software (e.g., Hyperion, OneStream, Planful, Anaplan).
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and presentation software (Google Slides/PowerPoint).
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with a formidable attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical cloud concepts into clear financial impacts for non-technical stakeholders.
Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
