Job Summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Process Engineering Manager located on Flex North.

Reporting to the Sr Director, Operations the Process Engineering Manager Responsible for managing a team of process engineers working on improving process engineering capabilities to support a specific area of a manufacturing organization.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Manage a team of engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators of approximately 60 employees to achieve production, quality, delivery, and operational objectives.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems across SMT manufacturing operations.
  • Establish and improve process capabilities for SMT processes, including solder paste printing, SPI, placement, reflow, and AOI.
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize process documentation, work instructions, setup sheets, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Lead SMT process development projects to meet customer product specifications, delivery requirements, quality standards, and cost expectations.
  • Manage SMT equipment programming, optimization, and validation to ensure efficient machine utilization and maximum production performance.
  • Monitor, analyze, and drive improvements in key manufacturing indicators, including OEE, UPH, Yield, Scrap, DPMO, FPY, downtime, and productivity metrics.
  • Work with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Program Management teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and successful product transfers into manufacturing.
  • Improve throughput in constrained areas through process optimization, capacity analysis, line balancing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, test, and implement new materials, process technologies, and manufacturing methods to improve quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Coordinate initiatives to increase throughput, reduce costs, improve equipment utilization, and enhance overall SMT manufacturing performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a qualified and high-performing workforce.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in SMT manufacturing and process engineering within the electronics industry.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven experience managing teams of approximately 60 employees.
  • Strong expertise in SMT processes, including solder paste printing, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, and process optimization.
  • Experience programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing SMT equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability Analysis (Cp/Cpk), and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience monitoring and improving manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, Yield, FPY, Scrap, Downtime, DPMO, and Productivity.
  • Experience supporting NPI launches, process validation, production line releases, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, DOE, and FMEA.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
