Job Summary

Engineer 2, IS Solutions Database Administration responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise database environments. This role focuses on Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MongoDB administration, database performance monitoring, query optimization, data integration, reporting services, and operational support activities. You will administer and monitor database platforms, develop and maintain SSIS and SSRS solutions, troubleshoot performance issues, implement backup and recovery processes, and support application teams with database-related needs. Working closely with senior engineers and developers, you will help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of critical business systems.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • ## Administers and maintains Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MongoDB database environments.
  • ## Monitors database health, performance, availability, and scheduled jobs using established monitoring and alerting tools.
  • ## Performs database backup, restore, recovery, and validation activities to ensure business continuity.
  • ## Supports database security administration, including user access, permissions, and audit requirements.
  • ## Troubleshoots database performance issues and implements query tuning, indexing, and optimization recommendations.
  • ## Develops, supports, and maintains SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for data integration and movement.
  • ## Develops and maintains SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports and reporting solutions to support business needs.
  • ## Assists with database replication, synchronization, and high-availability configurations.
  • ## Collaborates with application developers to optimize database design, queries, stored procedures, and data access patterns.
  • ## Participates in database deployments, upgrades, patching activities, and change management processes.
  • ## Creates and maintains database administration documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.
  • ## Responds to database incidents and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
  • ## Supports vulnerability remediation and database security best practices in partnership with infrastructure and security teams.
  • ## Contributes to automation efforts using SQL, PowerShell, or Python to improve operational efficiency.
