Ops Fiber Technician II

Job Overview:

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record
• ETA Fiber Technician certification
• Minimum 2 years of fiber optic splicing and troubleshooting experience
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
• Must be able to work on sites with stairs, ladders, bucket trucks, and uneven terrain
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold
• Must be able to distinguish between different color fiber jackets
• Proficiency in Excel and Adobe Acrobat
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to problem-solve and follow detailed instructions
• Knowledge of NESC and applicable state/local safety regulations

Technical Skills:

• Safe use of hand and small power tools
• Prep and install fiber cables into various enclosure types (new and existing)
• Fusion splice fibers within customer specifications
• Read and interpret splice details; complete accurate as-built documentation
• Troubleshoot down to the element level using traces and test results
• Proficiency with EXFO 715 OTDR (or newer) and interpreting results
• Perform light level testing using EXFO or similar power meter
• Experience with loose tube, spider ribbon, and other common cable types
• Troubleshoot back to and including ODN
• Successfully complete OLM activations and speed tests

Responsibilities:

• Ensure complete commitment to quality, following industry and customer standards
• Assist with field training of Fiber Tech I team members
• Edit and update customer-required documentation (e.g., as-built docs)
• Provide accurate and clear invoicing data to leadership
