The Digital Buyer supports clients in delivering best in class programmatic and direct digital media strategies with a focus on OLV, display, and direct sponsorship solutions. Under the guidance of the Digital Media Manager, the Digital Buyer manages programmatic, online video, and direct media buying for major clients plus supporting other teams as necessary. The role includes tactical execution and strategic optimization of campaigns across DSPs, ad servers, and direct partnerships throughout the year. The Digital Buyer will execute campaigns from end to end, including strategy, execution, optimization, reporting and billing, with strong emphasis on campaign-level insights and strategic recommendations.
- Work with direct vendors and internal programmatic team to execute digital campaign strategies, analyze campaigns performance, and perform optimizations
- Make credible strategic recommendations that drive clients’ business objectives, and identify and resolve problems in a client-centric environment
- Execute programmatic, OLV, display, and direct sponsorship campaign strategies using DSP platforms and ad serving technologies
- Analyze campaign performance across programmatic channels, derive actionable insights from data, and make strategic recommendations grounded in how media works and audience behavior
- Provide accountability for pacing, budget management, and delivery against agreed-upon KPIs and impression targets
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of ad serving platforms, DSPs, and viewability/verification frameworks (VVF) to identify and resolve trafficking, measurement, and optimization opportunities
- Providing regular input of ideas for best practices and adoption of new features or processes
- Create performance reports with clear data analysis, actionable recommendations, and detailed insights on campaign learnings and optimization opportunities
- Proactively find new ways to build the client’s business and grow the account
- Master and maintain knowledge of client’s business, competition, and latest industry news and trends
- Continually develop expertise in DSP platforms, ad serving, campaign management tools, audience integration, and programmatic buying methodologies
- Stay current on new inventory types, audience segments, bidding strategies, and ad serving capabilities within the programmatic and direct media ecosystem
Account Management:
- Supports media team in management of client digital media – delivering key data / budgets / details as needed
- Builds relationships with clients where relevant; sets and manages expectations of client and internal teams, especially to ensure optimal time scale to deliver quality work and service
- Responsible for ensuring all digital campaigns are invoiced to the client in an accurate and timely manner, understanding and communicating under/over delivery to Digital Media Manager and Account Team
Research:
- Knowledge of key platforms and how to utilize effectively to put together insights which can aid wider team and client planning
- Building relationships with key platform partners and attending industry events as needed to stay up to date with new media / trends / technology / test features
- Keen interest and passion for all things digital marketing and makes a concerted effort to stay on top of emerging trends
Qualifications
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Media, Advertising, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of media planning and/or buying experience focused on digital channel – Video and Display, both direct and programmatic. Search and social is a bonus, but not a requirement.
- Experience with campaign management and trafficking in programmatic environments, including familiarity with major DSP platforms (The Trade Desk, DV360, Amazon DSP, etc.)
- Working knowledge of ad serving platforms (Google Campaign Manager, Flashtalking, or equivalent) and VVF tools (IAS, Moat, Brand Safety tools)
- In-depth understanding of how programmatic media works, including bidding strategies, audience targeting, placement optimization, and viewability measurement
- Ability to pull and analyze campaign data to derive insights and make strategic recommendations – strong analytical skills with Excel or equivalent tools
- Strong level of MS Office skills: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, with particular strength in Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including clients, account managers, technical teams, and platform partners
- Demonstrated aptitude for managing multiple work streams and priorities simultaneously with attention to accuracy and detail
- Strong communication skills – ability to organize, explain, and present complex data and strategic recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Passion for staying current with programmatic innovation, new inventory types, and evolving best practices in digital media buyin

The salary range for this position is $50k-$55k. Actual salary within the salary range will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, and skills. A range of medical, dental, RRSP, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available to all permanent employees.
