Job Overview:

Job Summary:**

The Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator (Non-Driver) is responsible for operating heavy civil and mechanical equipment on renewable energy construction sites, contributing to the efficient and safe execution of projects. This role focuses on equipment operation and does not involve driving company vehicles to and from job sites.

Job Responsibilities:**

  • Operate a variety of heavy civil and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, skid steers, lifts, and other machinery, as directed by supervisors.
  • Perform daily pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment, ensuring all safety features are in working order.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and OSHA regulations while operating equipment and on the job site.
  • Excavate, grade, trench, and move materials according to project plans and specifications.
  • Assist with the assembly, positioning, and installation of mechanical components for renewable energy systems.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other personnel to ensure smooth workflow and project progress.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or project discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper storage of tools and equipment.

Job Qualifications:**

  • Proven experience operating heavy civil and mechanical equipment in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy construction projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and project plans.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Relevant equipment operating certifications are a plus.
