The Accounting Manager reports to the APAC Senior Accounting Manager in Shanghai and leads the APAC Global Accounting Services (GAS) GL team. This role is responsible for financial close, reporting, governance, and team capability across 5+ legal entities in the APAC region, while partnering with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, IT, Internal Controls, auditors, and business teams across Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other countries
- Supervise and review work of subordinates.
- Provide the team expert knowledge for U.S. GAAP, IFRS and etc.
- Making sound decisions across multiple legal entities and countries
- To complete accounting projects, ensure quality, timeline, stakeholder alignment and sustainable results.
- To support company’s business growth in Japan, Hongkong and etc.
40% General Accounting
- Manager and oversee end-to-end GL accounting operations across assigned APAC legal entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
- Review and post journal entries, In charge of both primary ledger and secondary Ledger Accounting in APAC
- Provide hands-on support for complex accounting matters and critical close issues.
- Lead monthly, quarterly and year-end close, driving standardization and continuous improvement.
- Review work papers, account analyses and balance sheet reconciliations, with timely resolution of aged or high-risk items.
- Review and analyze financial statements for responsible legal entities with explanation on key movements.
- Exercises judgment to determine accruals and other journal entries, such as manual actual, management reserves and etc.
- Performs analytical review of departmental expenses including trend and budget versus actual analyses.
- Provide accounting guidance and decision support on inquiries from different teams.
- Complete US GAAP group audits and local statutory audits across assigned APAC entities, managing timelines and issues.
- Supports SOX compliance efforts
30% Reporting and Analysis
- Continue to propose and improve accounting reports and analyses.
- Assist in the preparation and communication of financial data and documentation needed to analyze markdown, chargeback analysis, bad debt and inventory provision, and other reports.
- Drive consistent application of global accounting policies and identify opportunities to harmonize processes across countries and legal entities.
- Develop and ad-hoc analysis for management; translate financial data into clear insights, risks and recommendations.
20% Supervisory
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports through goal setting, regular feedback, capability building, succession planning, and career development.
- Ensure the team is properly trained and supported through on-going updates.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
10% Additional Responsibilities
- Participant and work with local business team for process optimization across Finance and the business, balancing global standards with country-specific requirements.
- Other Ad hoc projects include system enhancements, sourcing integration, entity integration and new business setup
