Employer description
Change the world. Love your job.
TI’s Law Department is seeking an attorney to advise on rapidly evolving global trade laws and regulatory developments affecting TI’s semiconductor business. This role will serve as a central legal resource for assessing significant trade and related government actions, translating developments into practical business implications and helping TI develop coordinated, actionable responses.
The attorney will monitor and analyze new and proposed laws, regulations, executive actions and agency developments affecting areas such as tariffs and trade remedies, customs and imports, export controls and sanctions, supply-chain and national-security regulation, and other trade-related measures. The attorney will work closely with subject-matter experts across Legal and the business to assess impact, identify decisions or actions required, and develop recommended legal positions and implementation strategies.
Roles and responsibilities
- Monitor and assess significant U.S. and international trade-related legal and regulatory developments affecting TI, with an emphasis on identifying material developments early and driving appropriate follow-up.
- Analyze new and proposed laws, regulations, executive actions and agency actions and translate them into clear implications for TI’s business, operations and customers.
- Develop practical legal recommendations and proposed company responses in coordination with the relevant Legal, compliance and business owners.
- Coordinate cross-functional legal analysis on matters that span multiple subject areas and ensure appropriate ownership, escalation and execution.
- Engage with outside counsel and other external experts when specialized regulatory or market analysis is required.
- Prepare concise legal and executive communications regarding significant developments, business implications, available options and recommended actions.
- Build and maintain processes that allow TI to identify, assess and respond efficiently to emerging trade and regulatory developments.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Law degree from an accredited law school (JD or equivalent).
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- At least 4 years of relevant legal experience.
- Experience advising on complex regulatory matters, including the ability to interpret new legal requirements and translate them into practical business advice.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with international trade regulation, including one or more of export controls and sanctions, tariffs and trade remedies, customs/import regulation, or other trade-related regulatory matters.
- Experience working with or within the U.S. government, or advising clients on matters involving agencies such as the Department of Commerce, USTR, Treasury, Customs and Border Protection or other relevant agencies.
- Understanding of legislative, executive-branch and regulatory processes and how they affect business.
- Experience advising a global company on regulatory developments with significant commercial or operational consequences.
- Ability to synthesize complex legal and factual issues quickly and provide practical, business-oriented recommendations.
- Strong judgment and ability to distinguish matters requiring immediate action or escalation from developments requiring monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across various stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues succinctly to senior leaders.
- Ability to operate independently, take ownership of matters and drive them through resolution in a fast-moving environment.
