Tonga: Mission Home Attendant

This position must provide a clean, sanitary comfortable, orderly and satisfying mission home, Church facility, or residence for the mission presidents family, missionaries, employees, and others. The Mission Home Attendant promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors. The attendant must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the cleanup of infectious materials in accordance with procedures and regulations. This is an entry support role.

Responsibilities

Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc. Maintain home/facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings. Require working in damp, dusty and dirty areas. Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials. Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc. Must comply with all regulations associated with handling these chemicals. Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, windowsills, and empty trash containers daily, etc. Wet mop floors in all rooms and bathrooms daily. Damp mop all corridor floors, lobby, dining areas, and others daily. Clean wash basins, mirrors, commodes, tubs, and showers daily and clean all air vents. Check all vacant rooms daily to keep fresh. Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken windowpanes, missing nuts or screws, beds needing repair, etc.). Completely strip and re-coat all floor areas when necessary and as scheduled. Check entire area for spills, water, etc. periodically, especially in residents' bathrooms. Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services. Other duties as assigned (e.g. preparing and cooking meals, overseeing children, or addressing minor appliance issues).

Qualifications

Good physical and mental health. Able to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule, must be able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry up to 34 kg.
