Housekeeper - F/T North Star

North Star Fishing Company is dedicated to producing the highest quality frozen-at-sea groundfish products in the world. We are one of the largest producers of frozen at sea flatfish, cod, pollock and other groundfish, and distributes seafood throughout the world. North Star Fishing Company is hiring for a housekeeper to work aboard the F/T North Star, an at-sea processing vessel that fishes off the Coast of Alaska. Housekeepers maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of all public areas and accommodations including the galley area, crew cabins and processing factory.

Requirements

• Standing 14 hrs/day for 7 days/week
• Self-motivated team-player
• All candidates subject to a post offer pre-employment drug test, medical and background screen.
• Must be able to provide two positive recent references from previous employers

Duties

• Clean crew cabins including bathrooms, emptying garbage, dusting and vacuuming
• Clean crew lounge, public restrooms, changing room and other public areas as assigned
• Vacuum floors daily, mop as needed, strip and wax as scheduled
• Wash and clean walls, ceilings and lamps as scheduled
• Maintain and organize storage and linens
• Maintain laundry schedule; change sheets and towels per schedule
• During meal times assist galley with dishes, mopping, restocking, cleaning and simple food prep as assigned
• Assist factory crew in cleaning and maintaining the factory areas

Life on board

• Limited privacy
• 4-6 bunks per room (co-ed)
• All meals provided at no cost
• Expect limited communication. Cell phones don't work.
• Satellite Wi-Fi provided, newly integrated Starlink is a high-speed, low-latency broadband internet able to adapt to remote and rural locations.

Benefits

• Company travel policy agreement: Successful completion of 5 consecutive fishing trips grants eligibility for airfare/hotel expenses, between the vessel and Seattle, to be paid by the company. Each fishing trip averages 12-16 day and can be more or less dependent on fishing conditions.
