Job Overview:

The Injection Molding Operator is responsible for operating injection molding equipment to produce quality parts in a safe and efficient manner. This position monitors machine performance, performs quality inspections, loads materials, completes production documentation, and supports continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing operation.

Essential Responsibilities:

Production Operations

  • Operate injection molding machines according to established work instructions and production schedules.
  • Load raw materials and components into equipment as required.
  • Remove finished parts and perform visual inspections for defects.
  • Package, label, and move finished products according to specifications.
  • Maintain required production rates while following quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor machine operation and notify supervisors of any abnormalities or equipment issues.

Quality Assurance

  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Identify defects such as flash, short shots, discoloration, voids, or dimensional issues.
  • Follow quality procedures and document inspection results.
  • Segregate nonconforming product and notify the appropriate personnel.

Equipment and Workplace Maintenance

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles.
  • Perform routine cleaning of equipment and workstations.
  • Assist with material changes, mold changes, and machine startup activities as directed.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities when required.

Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near-misses immediately.

Team Support

  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, quality personnel, maintenance technicians, and fellow operators.
  • Assist in training new operators as assigned.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred

  • Experience operating injection molding equipment.
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools and techniques.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and machine noise.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing production environment.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, plastics materials, and industrial equipment.
  • Overtime and shift work may be required to meet production demands.
