Position Overview:
The Senior Product Designer drives the design of complex, end-to-end workflows and connects individual project outcomes to the broader product vision. This role brings deep expertise in at least one design discipline and uses that expertise to shape how the team approaches ambiguous or loosely defined problems, and to set the craft standard for the product area they own. The Senior Product Designer contributes to the team by facilitating cross-functional alignment, clarifying success metrics, and modeling design rationale that ties directly to business value. This role also owns AI-native experiences end to end, including how they are evaluated and how they are framed safely in a health context, and strengthens the design function overall by mentoring other designers and helping evolve shared processes, tools, and standards across the team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of end-to-end, complex workflows or full products, taking ownership of the solution from ambiguous problem framing through delivery.
- Facilitate workshops and alignment sessions with stakeholders and cross-functional peers to drive consensus on project scope and direction.
- Clarify success metrics for design work and connect project outcomes to broader product strategy and business goals.
- Mentor and coach other designers, providing structured feedback on craft, process, and stakeholder communication, and hold the craft standard for their product area.
- Champion and help evolve the team's design processes, standards, and design system to improve consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Identify organizational or cross-team design issues and proactively advocate for changes that improve collaboration and outcomes.
- Partner with product and engineering leads to negotiate trade-offs between design quality, technical constraints, and delivery timelines, resolving them at their level rather than escalating.
- Own the design of AI-native experiences end to end, including evaluation criteria and safety framing appropriate to a health context.
- Teach other designers where judgment cannot be delegated to a tool, and model how AI-assisted work is reviewed before it ships.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or a related discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communication, or a related field.
Preferred skills:
- Strong ability to connect design decisions to business outcomes and communicate that connection to stakeholders and leadership.
- Facilitates team discussions and help drive toward decisions.
- Deep expertise in at least one core design discipline (e.g., interaction design, accessibility, design systems, visual design, research…) with working proficiency across others.
- Familiarity with structuring and delivering formal coaching or training for other designers.
- Experience partnering directly with senior product or engineering stakeholders on strategic initiatives.
- Experience designing AI-driven or AI-assisted product experiences, including how their quality is evaluated and how risk is handled in health or other regulated contexts.
- Track record of setting and holding a craft standard for a product area, not only for their own work.
